Listen to the Rolling Stones’ Song With Robert Smith | Pitchfork https://pitchfork.com/news/listen-to-the-rolling-stones-song-with-robert-smith-divine-intervention/

Oh, this is going to be perfect for everyone at the old age nursing homes. Mick Jagger 82 and Robert Smith 67. Same like with too many artists. They just don´t know when to quit.

So you think they should just seclude themselves in their homes and die. Mick with all his drug use in the past is still kicking because he doesn't feel obligated to appease those that are weak of mind. That is the trick - have passions and don't throw in the towel.

Still better than the young ones. 2 music legends in their genre.

Truth. You quit when the people let you know it's your time, and they will. Musicians are meant to be musicians until they no longer can, and some have come back and made decent albums into their 80's. Their voices fade, get gravelly, but it can be endearing, especially when they have good backing musicians and lyrics. I did see David Lee Roth in a video yesterday and he should throw in the towel, but he did make some great music before, and he'll understand soon enough that it's time to quit.

Maybe they should just use AI.

Is Mick Jagger still doing shows?

He must have some amazing genes or .... is he on some sort of life enhancement protocol only available to the rich?

It's remarkable how much energy he has at that age.

I don't care much for his music, but the fact that he's still performing and creating new music at that age is inspiring.

Paul McCartney has a new album out as well.

Much prefer Paul to Mick, even though Paul's voice is getting weak, his lyrics and melodies are still those of one of the all-time greats.

Yeah, you take Mick.

I'll take Paul any day of the week.

Mick has always stayed in great physical condition through intense exercise regimes, it would seem.

There is plenty to go around for everyone.

Knowing when to quit for SUCCESSFUL artists who got something to say isn't an actual problem.

The real problem is most "artists" nowadays don't know when to START...

You know, after they learn how to play instruments and learn how to sing

Or in my case how not to sing 😂

They lazy and just wanna steal music and start talking <deleted> loudly stepping all over the original music with their egotistical drivel.

I agree but why should David throw in the towel. Assuming he still enjoys it, I respect that he is doing it even though he might suck at it. I still do many things I'm terrible at compared to my twenties but might even enjoy them now that I'm not intent on being better than everyone else.

When you're obviously embarrassing yourself it's time to quit. If you saw the video you would understand. If you've obviously lost it, it's best to have people remember you as you were. Look also at the clothes worn. Nothing wrong with enjoying what you always enjoyed, but when you're in the public eye, it has them embarrassed themselves watching.

The man that can ignore the public insults or criticism that is that harms no one, is a great man. If i saw the video and he was terrible, I would simply be happy for him that he is still doing what he loves. Honestly, I don't know anything about him and maybe he is doing it out of necessity but better than mopping floors :)

He was terrible but he was having fun. Thanks for sharing the video.

I wouldn't have the gonads to go up on stage and do that. I have more respect for him now. I never thought he was talented 40 years ago and as you would expect, he is hasn't improved like a fine wine. He is still a rocker in his mind!

He was a good performer with Van Halen as was Sammy Hagar. Sammy still can sing but this was sad. If it's his ego still thinking he has it, so much more sadder. Better to go into producing if he can.

If you are an old fan of The Cure, you might like this live concert that they just performed in Barcelona earlier this month.

Their performance of Fascination Street in this concert is tour de force. If you click the link below, it will take you right to that song within the two hour plus long concert:

Ya know, it's funny. These ancient top artists certainly don't need the money. Do they do it for the fans, their ego?

Dylan still comes out with some wonders. Leonard Cohen left too soon.

I understand why they do it, and sure it a good thought. However, they do it for too long that it doesn´t sound good no more. Just listen to Dylan, Jagger, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and so on.....

Dylan never could sing. He's more a lyricist. He can make albums until he dies and still sound the same. Good lyricist though.

Yeah, it´s the trick to not be remembered for the good part, and instead be remembered as the person who sounded like <deleted> before he tucked in.

why is being remembered more important than living good life and having fun? I won't sacrifice much if anything at all for something I won't even experience.

Never liked the Stones, but consider Smith to be a blazing genius, who created songs that will likely be remembered 100 years from now. A true musical prodigy.
