Just so I understand as I also never liked stones but liked The Cure.

Maybe it's the same Bob Smith from here.

I could give you a list of good singers to educate you on the subject, like Gordon Lightfoot, another folk singer who Dylan said was great and who was influenced by. Paul Rodgers, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Roberta Flack, Enya, Heather Findlay, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Karen Carpenter, Jon Anderson, Justin Hayward, Robert Plant, David Coverdale, Van Morrison, Elvis, and many more.

Dylan was a lyricist, not the best but good, and not a good singer, although it matches his music like a poet talking. Nasal and grating style, flat and often off key.

Yeah he was always an awful singer. Wrote a few good songs.

I highly doubt that. Also, what you are referring to is individual taste. Once again, you try to press your individual view as the overruling one everybody should see as the only way. You are beginning to sound like a prophet Fred.

No, music is a passion of mine and I know it well. You thinking Dylan was a good singer and calling me deluded is all I need to know that you don't know music.Taste has nothing to do with knowing who is good, great or blase. Some people build their lives around certain subjects, like music, and know them inside and out, while some just go along with the crowd and are followers because popular sells, even if it's soulless pap with no heart.

Yeah so that's the guy from The Cure? Mick Jagger is The Disease, so it's a match made in heaven.

Jim Morrison thought he was a crappy singer and was shy to go on stage.

But his bandmate told him Bob Dylan couldn't sing and still made it big.

So that convinced Jim to get on stage.

Playing for Change is a cool project.

They have artists from all over the world joining in.

And that is your opinion, right? That´s what I tried to get you to understand. Music is a very wide subject, and people have different taste. So, like I said, that´s your opinion. Very hard to continue like you do in every thread, to push your opinions like the only right one, and then tell people that is fact, and that you know so much about everything. You are an oracle, Fred! At least in your own mind. But, that´s perfectly good for, as you can´t break the bubble and see what´s outside of your spectrum.

No, when a person is into music as much as I am, they know over their lifetime what makes a good singer or musician. Nothing to do with popular or opinions. You don't know music like I do, so there isn't anything you could say to "make me understand".

I'm not pushing anything but stating what is. I'm not talking about "everything " either, but music and musicians. I'm hardly the only one who's into music this much, but the majority will never hear all of what's out there, either because they're not interested in researching more, or are stuck with older classics and think no good music is available nowadays, which it is.

Some are definitely good at their trade, and some get by because they have a distinctive voice or their lyrics are good, reaching people where they live.

I could name 100 great bands or musicians I'm sure you've never heard of, and there's a reason for that you might not understand. Of course people have different tastes, and you can't take away from them what they like or what makes them happy, but that still doesn't mean the people they like are good or great at what they do.

There are thousands who like pop music, a lot of it using computers and it all sounds much the same. They put on live shows which the younger crowd (mostly) enjoys. This doesn't necessarily mean they are top singers or musicians, although some definitely are good singers. It just means they're popular with a certain crowd. Many of the most popular artists use hired guns, rock guitarists, to back them because they know they're good.

There are many who have never heard of some of the best bands in existence, especially in the progressive rock genre, who are better musicians than many who are well known. Radio stations always play what they think people like, and are repetitive because they're told to play certain songs over and over, and many will still listen, even though those songs have other songs on the album which are equally as good or better. It's money and politics.

If you aren't into researching music, which comes easily there days because you can watch a video you like, and other artists will pop up that are similar, you'll never hear what's out there. Not an opinion.

Just read the above, over and over again, until you understand. You 2 sentences above can be described like below:

High confidence in their own expertise ("I know music better than you.") Dismissiveness toward other perspectives ("There isn't anything you could say...") Closed-mindedness in that moment, because they explicitly reject the possibility of changing their view. Appeal to personal authority, relying on years of experience rather than engaging with evidence or discussion.

Strong intellectual arrogance. Confirmation bias. Identity tied closely to expertise in a particular field. Defensiveness when challenged. A personality characterized by low openness to alternative viewpoints.

You stated I was delusional. I showed you how you were wrong, as you said I was delusional thinking Dylan wasn't a good singer. He isn't , period. It isn't my opinion but a fact. You can find a thousand who will agree and very few that actually think Bob Dylan is a good singer. I named singers who are or were good, and I can name many more.

Then you went on with your usual trying to teach someone who knows more than you what he knows. Don't try to psychoanalyze someone who already knows how people like you act. I'm not near close minded but tired of people like you thinking they're smarter than others, which you accuse me of yet use all the time here, when you're obviously not.

Why would I change my "view" when it's a well known thing? If you knew music, you wouldn't say what you did, along with calling me delusional, which is a familiar go-to for those who assume about others when their own knowledge is lacking about a particular subject. Now come back with more nonsense, as it's you.

Dylan ranks 15th on Ai. Not in my top 100.
