Both lost souls, products of a misspent youth that traversed into supposed adulthood. Sadly they can't put the blame on those responsible, as they're likely passed away, though hated still. Thus they take that hidden anger out on anyone who dares act the same, showing them where they're wrong.

Impossible to take lightly, they turn to deflection, as hearing the truth only solidifies that constant gnawing at their conscience that they've had wasted lives, hurting one person after another. But that pain will never leave, as it's been ingrained much too long, and hopefully they won't drag any others down with them into their own brand of hell.

We can easily see this and just feel sorry, as it wasn't their fault they ended up this way, but it's on them to either remain in limbo or seek help, if that's at all possible, as what they have has no real cure.
