My company is having a short conference in Phuket in a couple of months. We'll be flying up direct from Singapore to Phuket. As well as several UK passport holders, we have one HK SAR citizen and one Filipino. Looking at the info on this site, both the HK SAR and PI's should get the same 30 day Visa Exemption stamp at Immigration, as the Brits should. Something to do with ASEAN membership I think?

Can anyone confirm that this happens in practice? I don't even want to go down the road of trying to get them business visas, but would applying for a tourist visa before they go be sensible insurance?

Assume everyone writes anything BUT 'business' for the purpose of visit on the landing card?!?! :o

Thanks,

CC

Hi Captain

I can totally confirm it is correct they will get the 30 day upon arrival - done it many times with people from HK and PI including last week.

There is nothing to write on the card anymore - but I do know some people put "Business" before and they had no problem with a 30 day on arrival.

Most companies just do not bother with business visa's due to the hassle with Thailand and only giving single entry and not multiple.

Thanks Lop - that was the info I was looking at when I made my original post, but wanted to check whether theory and practice coincided ... hey, TiT :o

Prak's experience is that they do, which is good enough for me.

Thanks to you both.

We have meetings in Thailand a few times a year with people from right across the region - the only ones that have to do something slightly different is the Chinese and Indians - they get Visa on Arrival for 15 days or so when they arrive at the airport.

Dunno what our Burmese Dr does and I can not ask him just now.
