I wonder who is looking after his four children, paying for them etc.

Maybe the reason he was struggling in Aus was because he had four.

If behind on child support in Australia, you used to be on the alert system and stopped from departing.

I have found out it's always best to keep your head down and

don't draw attention to yourself even if you are 100% legal,

Oz pension starts at 67 and you have to live there just prior for 3 years i think. He will have to return age 64 to Oz and wait 3 years.

Let's see what Jeff thinks after a year or so of being here... sounds like a real puff piece to me and clearly he hasn't encountered many of the problems, hidden or otherwise, that make long-term staying a challenge. And let's not forget the notoriously unfriendly bureaucracy that smothers absolutely everything... going to have to master the art of pragmatism and get used to listening to lies on a daily basis.

I thought the article said he had private superannuation that included a second house. He wouldn't be eligible for the age pension till 67 at least. He probably has other investments; two redundancies would put some money in his pocket.

He also wrote, produced and directed a feature film which might provide some funds.

Living 4 kids... and he is brave enough to post his picture with his... gf? Oh, well. Can she get his pension if he kicks the can or sue for his pension?

The answer to that is no. Even I don't get the AU pension, I'm 81 yo and I've lived in Thailand for 26 years. I'm an Aussie by birth, I got called up for National Service and spent 12 months in Vietnam. I was a plumber in a Naval Shipyard. A few years ago I was sent an Australian Service Medal, I returned to the sender. The reason I don't get the pension is that I didn't return to Australia for 2 years before my due date. It is a strict 2 years and you can't even leave Australia for one day. By the way went I decided to live in Thailand I didn't leave a wife and kids behind. As my current wife is the first time I have ever been married, which is now 24 years.

I'm 78 and worked for the federal government for 20 years taking out the trash of other nations that arrived by boat and air. I don't collect any age pension and still pay tax on my superannuation.

It used to be 63 years old, now it's either 64 or 65 years and you can't leave Australia for the next 2 years after that, not even for one day.

You are allowed to go on holidays during the 2 years

Worth a look , if you think of moving there.

But then again , most of the negatives are the same in nearly all EU countries.

That's why we're in Thailand .

I have a few for you as well.

My point was that you will find a get out of (fill in country of choice) before 2027 youtube for every country you can think of

Yer, must have been renting on Bondi Beach. I know it is expensive but with my lifestyle I would have trouble spending $7500 a month.

I moved back to OZ. I have not had a rent increase for 8 years. I only pay 250 AUD per week and collect a pension of AUD 2600 per month. My food bill in Thailand was more than I pay now in OZ, since I don't like Thai food, I used to buy Farang food.

Yeah, that was my thought as well. A guy makes 4 children to take care of. After says he struggling to get it together. A little bit later stand like an arse and tells the world he left his children for a Thai girl. What a fine piece of man. Not!

Over a two-year period, Jeff said he applied for more than 50 jobs but struggled to secure work. He claimed age may have become a factor during interviews, despite being a strong match for many positions on paper.

I would not give a job to a guy who looked like that. But the west can be super expensive.

He advertises he is an anti-vaccer can not get a job? I am not criticising his choice but why does he need to say it in an interview. He is anti - immigration so he migrates to another country? I'll need to make sure not to watch his YouTube channel.

You might have taken this the Wong way.The point he was making is that when the labor govrnment got into power they weakened the immigration laws an just in the last year 1.15 million have been let in. As there was already an acute housing shortage and particularly social housing this has put extreme pressure on the rental market. It has caused rent prices to extreme levels if you can get one and thousands of people are living in their cars or in tents in parks. So to say that he is anti immigration is Wong it is the consequences of a large immigrant intake that is his concern.

You are gonna keep telling that story for ever and ever without responding to peoples queries about why that is the case. Seems the property is owned by your kind of wife. She is your wife in a relationship sense but not in getting the pension sense.

The problem is that none of this is true. Peak migration in Australia was 2022 under Morrison and after Covid and since then has been lessening. The true figures are stretched because they include overseas students, backpackers on working holidays and people who just don't stay. I just think it is funny that many Thai people probably think the same of you and wish you would leave and go back to Australia. You only need to see the news to see foreigners behaving badly in Thailand.

I was mainly commenting on his anti-vaccer statements. He is welcome to his beliefs but alienating a large percentage of his YouTube audience with his personal beliefs doesn't seem the smartest thing to do. I always thought if you are in business you want to be everybody's friend- not just try and attract anti-vaccers and anti - immigration audience.

The way things are going in Thailand - I wouldn't be sprouting off about a Y/T channel.

Not sure why he is waiting till he is 60. You can draw on your super at 55 if you have stopped working?

Maybe his channel is the reason or SMSF are different exit age?

Is a superannuation a fixed block of money or does it pay out a fixed amount of money monthly for life like a guaranteend pension ?

If it is a fixed block then it will not last forever.

For most it is a fixed block. Tax free at 60. He could get his at 56 with some tax.

In most cases at 60 you can put it into an annuity and take an income tax free but basically the funds are there if you want it.

As a public servant of 25 years like he seems to have been he could have the option of lump sum at 56 or defined benefit that is paid fortnightly and goes up with inflation. Depends on his super fund.

35,000 baht a month be fine in a small town if non drinker and woman ok. That woman looks a bit risky to me. I can live beachfont on 35,000 a month by myself very easy but women and buffalos watch out.

I find it funny how so many comments on this article is related to income and what type of Thai woman can be found depending on a farangs income in other words bought.

It just shows the type of woman many farangs end up being with, probably a bar girl from Isaan seeing that is where most of them come from, with sick parents and a buffalo to support.

What about those of us who are with a woman long term who have their own money, income and property and have already made it in life on their own and are with us out of mutual happiness.

There are many women like that, but they can not be found hanging around bars and thus the majority of farangs never meet them.

And the big thing which makes the gold digger type totally obvious is the fact they are with a guy old enough to be their father, that is one big giveaway.

Why do theses guys have such a woman full time, they stand out like a sore thumb as they walk together in public, they are not fooling anybody, why not just hire one now and then I am sure that is a lot less expensive?

So it is enough to live on in Thailand?

The problem is when he gets old and sick and does not have the money to pay for hospital bills as I see medical insurance for old guys does not cover very much.

I have £150k in easily accessible money to get me back home to the UK in an emergency if I need long term medical help which will then be free.

Life is great until it is not and we all need an escape plan.

I have been here for four years full time, I have been on holidays some six months in length, one as long as a year, some for just the weekend, I have not come across anything which is greatly negative and makes me unhappy as you seem to be.

Can you list one or two things which I may be missing?

Another monger with a wife beater tee shirt, tats and gold necklace. Nothing new here, move along.

If he was working for 25 years as a public servant he should have a decent amount. That's one good thing about public service jobs - super is decent.
