Austrian Gets 1,673 Years in Thai Prison

Good he stays in Thai prison, just hope he doesn’t eventually get deported to an Austrian prison.

The way it works is this. If you get a life sentence here, you can apply to be repatriated in four years--and many get to walk free on return. This is the reason he got all those years rather than life.

The home country must accept him. I'm not so sure Austria would. There'd be a huge public outcry.

The poor daughter! No animal would ever do this.

I know nothing of Thai or Austrian prisons, but many serious media have reported that in UK prisons, "nonces" are meted out special treatment by other prisoners.

One can only hope he gets such justice.

So what happens to the girl now? Is she alone or given to her mother? Will she grow up in a social services nightmare in Thailand?

Punish the father be all means but let the public know she is safe.

I assume she's already fairly grown up. The abuse started when she was 8, he was charged with 134 incidents, which all happened before his arrest, which was 4 years ago. So I'm guessing she's at least 16. Not a grown up, but fairly grown up.

The man must be sentenced indeed but a bit strange sentence of 1673 years

Not at all strange considering that he was convicted for 134 separate cases. Perfectly normal legal process.

Do you have even one specific example of that being the case?

I didn't think so.

Austria would have to accept him if Thailand deports him at some stage.

I hope that you live for the maximum of 50 years and are subject to the same abuse you dished out to that poor, innocent young girl.

He is 54yo. Chances are in prison he won't live more than 25 years. Obviously you did not read the article.

Absolutely. But many animals would kill and eat their own young.

Too bad I'm vegetarian, eh. I always wanted to be a humanitarian.

we see the same type of sentencing in the US...

The man, who already had a previous conviction for child abuse in Austria, began abusing his daughter when she was just eight years old.

It's disgusting that Western countries don't deny passports to their citizens who have already been convicted for child abuse back home. How much misery could be prevented? In their home country they could be monitored, forced to register as a sex offender and whatnot.

I agree entirely- the only good part to this story is he will be inside almost certainly until he dies

Hopefully that won’t be long when the Thai inmates find out what he’s in for.

If you read the OP.

The sentence is capped at 50yrs, he will be elgible for release (asssuming no royal pardon) when he is 104yrs old.

Lets hope he suffers everyday in the nick ,just hope there's someone with balls.

that will pour a big pan of very hot joke over his head one morning , kiddie

fiddling is the lowest of all crimes ,he deserves everything that's coming to him.

He had a child abuse conviction back in Austria and somehow ended up with a long-term visa in Thailand. Long ago Thailand required a criminal records check in our home country to get a long-stay visa. I wonder what happened to that regulation.

A good point. He shouldn’t have been allowed in the country, let alone given sole custody of a child.

But there’s no system to bar criminals from entering Thailand (unless blacklisted for overstay) and apparently there is no system to bar sex criminals from being given sole custody of children.

A very sad state of affairs. My heart goes out to that child.

No matter his sentence, she will carry these hideous memories for life.

A global sex offender & child abuse registry would sure help. It doesn't seem like much of a technological challenge to accomplish.

It gives me pause to see "thumbs-down emojis when we are discussing the penalties for being a child rapist as my reaction is to seriously wonder about the sexual proclivities of the AN member who decided to used it. 🤔 Really - why?

Easier to just give him a short drop and a sudden stop.

It would seem a logical step for all countries to want this.

In the meantime though, if Thailand wants to keep criminals out, they have to start demanding criminal checks before entry, at least for anything other than a 30 day tourist visa.

It will never happen. It’s far too meaningful a step.

Thailand is full of this kind of stuff. 20-25 years ago I was on a bus sitting across from a mother and daughter. The mom was blinged out and they were talking about the next score. I watched for a while and the daughter was all in but clearly the dominant mom was in control. Sickening.

Disgusting abuse.

All the more reason that the vast network of pedos or enablers in the Epstein case need to be investigated and if probable cause charged with any crimes found. But in spite of a law passed by senate house and signed by POTUS the DOJ and FBI continue to refuse to release all the files thereby possibly protecting powerful pedos. Sad how the powerful are protected while the survivors are generally ignored. Calling it all a hoax is disgusting as is dangling a possible pardon to the convicted pedo Maxwell.

At least in the Thai case the guy finally is in prison where I suspect he will get a taste of his own abuse.

In some western countries he would have got a slap on the wrist and nowhere near 1673 years in jail, that's a fact.

Two fairly recent cases. Ian Huntley and Ian Watkins. Both attacked in prison and subsequently died from their injuries. I can only assume the attacks had something to do with their past crimes and infamy.

I'll try NOT to cry any tears for either of those evil bastards!

I draw some perverted satisfaction from wondering how long each of them had waited, knowing that one day "it was coming"

I agree, yet that post you reacted to got 10 red thumbs.

Do men here tell themselves that the women in bars are the product of loving, two parent families? This type of story is exactly how it starts. So many of those women's first sexual encounters were at puberty with a family member or trusted adult. Men who married women from bars usually know this, or of one of the wife's former coworkers who went through it.

Because there are idiotic boneheads on this forum that give you a thumbs down no matter what you post.

You know who you are, grow up and F off already.

Just really feel badly for the child. How terrible to start out life with a molester. Hopefully she can make something of her life.

That crime is of such a heinous nature than one could even make an argument that the sentence is not long enough!

There are certain lines that people cross in this lifetime that are so beyond the pale and so unforgivable that whatever fate they end up suffering is hopefully only the beginning. One has to hope in the afterlife that there will be significant additional punishment.

Yes, the system failed the poor kid, but the end result seems just. I wonder how long he will survive.

I give him about 30 days of HELL!
