What about travellers who get in with a re-entry permit?

I mean, shouldn’t they wait for the IO to stamp it off?

Same as they do now, nothing has changed. Ensure that they get correctly stamped in until the date stated on the REP. As recommended elsewhere, enter the REP number in the (optional) Visa field (as is the case with the TDAC and earlier TM6).

At Phitsanulok IO, I do not need to fill in a form for 90 days, the Officer simply puts my Passport into a reader and up comes all my details. Print out the silly slip of paper they then STAPLE, (oh no!) into the back of said Passport, together with my TM30.

I know there are no standardprocedures. In Phetchaburi you need to fill in a form in the office ad they claim on the website is not correct, and they need the copies, which are also mentioned on the website. However here the officers claim to come to the office as they tell me everytime that the wrbsite can cause problems. I dont know anymore

Is it not just the TM47 form with a photo , at most IOs?

If you do it online, it goes to whichever IO you use. They already have so many photos and passport copies

I used it when I flew out a couple of weeks ago and it was very smooth and there were no lines.

Good on Thailand for this, if only backwards nations like America would start using advanced systems, that would be amazing.

So now in addition to immigration, 5G networks and fiber optic are three times faster in Thailand than they are in America at a third the price, that's what I call progress.

I went out of Thailand last year and came back five months later, on the way out it only took one minute to use the automatic passport scanning system.

When the new portable app is available it will make it even easier to come back in. (or is the app already in service ? and available)

I notice you have 11 negative thumbs down so far for you positive remark, it will always happen on this blog as it seems to be full of moaning, complaining old guys who are afraid of new technology or anything positive directed towards Thailand, it make me wonder why they live here.

Just laugh as I do when I get negative thumbs down from the miseries. 😀

Have to wait and see I think this system only works if Immigration already has a scanned copy of your passport either via existing E-Visa application or your passport has already been scanned on a previous visit. ...

Nothing for anyone to wait for. If you're a first time visitor, you scan and upload your passport data when you first open the app. If you're an "old hand", you also scan and upload your passport data when you first open the app. The arrival immigration having a scan "on file" becomes superfluous for all users but they'll still have your entire visit history if you have such.

Will this mean the end of the pile of documents and photos needed for marriage extensions? Somehow I doubt it.

That is the punishment you receive for applying for a marriage extension, the retirement extension is very straightforward here in Phuket, it only takes twenty minutes in and out of the immigration office. 😀

Time to stop thinking from within that wee box with your paper forms and photo copies. Think about cloud-based technology and bugger all stapled inside your passport.

It is simply the 3rd iteration of the arrival card (TM6./TDAC/THIM). In fact it is really just a connection to the existing TDAC. So it won't make anything easier. Yes, it's available and seems to work, despite some being unable to download it for whatever reason.

My wee box tells me to copy Passport, Driving Licence, TM30, TM47 and keep them on my phone, One Drive and Google Drive just to be on the safe side.

The IO also has copies on their W8 computer.

But if it is anything like shopping in Makro or Lotus, it takes so many customers so much longer to pay via their phone. The paper stuff with the King's picture is far quicker.

Apparently one difference (which is a good thing) is the ability for this new app to store previous data (unlike the TDAC) and therefore not have to go through the whole process every time you arrive.

So basically it is an update to the TDAC app?

As they claim yes. But right now there is no way to register on the app so that useful feature is yet to be realised.

TDAC is/was never an app. THIM is a platform on which immigration can/could/might add additional functions, TM47 for instance. But right now yes, the only thing it can do is the same as the web based TDAC.

Great clarification. Thanks.

This answers my last post and why Google Play store doesn’t yet have the App for Android.

Will just use the TDAC as usual on return mid June

They have it as I downloaded it already

I totally agree, it is so annoying when the cashier has to leve the check-out post to query a customers banking app with the Customer Information Counter and then return to try again!!

I do not have a smartphone and my VISA debit card is great FOR ME, Coincidentally a Kings Face also appears on Cambodian Riel notes - which I also use regularly!

Which other countries, United Kingdom has Charlie, and USA will get Trumpy on their new $250 bill.

Why not go to the 'logical' conclusion and do away with the passport altogether just have the RFID chip inserted somewhere easily accessible in the body..they might even let you chose where in the body if your on the 'good' list. 🤢

It "seems to work", eh? So you've made an entry to Thailand using it already?

Meh... barcode tattoo on the back of the shaved head, like Bruce Willis.

Nope. But is does exactly what the TDAC does so I'm reasonably confident. If I had already entered I would have said "it does work".

Not understanding, you can do the 90 day reporting totally online. Have been doing that all year.

I have never experienced that at Makro. Scan and go every time for years.

Not understanding. I wrote about marriage extensions and you reply about 90 day reporting.

it would have been good if the original article had included the QR codes to directly download the Apps but I found it easily on the Apple App Store by searching for "THIM".

If you can't find it then it's likely because your Apple/Google store account has a Region/Country setting where the App hasn't been released yet (I know the Thai stores have it & somebody reported the UK Stores have it), in which case either change your Region/Country OR just wait a little while & it will be coming soon :)

does this have a pc option or mobile device only ?

The main difference is that this is an App (App stands for application, ie a program that runs on an operating system, Android or IOS)

An App can be updated, fixed, can have functionalities added.

In fact I just downloaded it and it initially looks great, I just wonder if it still has bugs that need to be fixed.

For the meantime time I'll give a 10 for Thai immigration to have come up with this brilliant idea.
