Hi all..

Recently I flew into Suwanabhumi ,got the usual visa free entry and later I noticed that the immi. had written and highlighted a number 4 next to it.

My recent visa history is thus...

New passport in January...

Three consecutive border runs....just under 90 days.....then a tourist visa from malaysia which I used for only a month.

Left the country for 3 months for my home country( in the EU).

Back in Suwanapoom....got the visa free entry but with the mysterious number four where it should read one..

Anybody with similar experience out there?

Thanks

Perhaps the idea is to order all of the thirty-day stamps in a passport consecutively. That way, if an immigrations official is looking for the next stamp or the last stamp, each stamp has a unique number rather than say, 10 thirty-day stamps in a full passport all bearing the number '1'.

It's not really important how many visa-free entries you've got, it's the total number of days.

My guess is they are marking (colored marker) and numbering all of the visa-free entries to make them easier to check (find) when they need to do a calculation. Perhaps they count from the beginning of the year. Perhaps they count from October, 2006.

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps....no one really knows for sure.

Why dont you ask immigration officer first, why she/he put number 4 inside visa??? Recommend check first and just ask quickly before walking off....

Anyway, I am due to arrive once again tomorrow at Suvannabhoom for weekend, for what must be my 18 free entry visa stamp and I am just about to update my excel sheet, showing clearly total number of days since October 2006, number of arrivals and departures. Immigration officers really appreciate this sheet and dont even bother checknig and counting stamps anymore....i am always through in no time......

Cheers and great weekend! :o

This is the formula that is "probably" being used by smart immigration officials to calculate whether or not you are "vermin on arrival."

x = {q + [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/2}1/3 + {q - [q2 + (r-p2)3]1/2}1/3 + p

where

p = -b/(3a), q = p3 + (bc-3ad)/(6a2), r = c/(3a) :o

The only requirement is that you show one of your middle fingers before giving it to them! :D

All kidding aside......this is really getting way beyond stupid. :D Why bother?

Wow, is it really that simple.............. :o:D

Unless you are fluent in Thai, it's not such a great idea to query the Immigration Officers upon arrival. It comes across as arrogant expecting them to speak English.

You say you've entered 18 times since October 2006. Could you indicate if all your stamps have been numbered, and if so, when did they start numbering them.

This information would be invaluable for ThaiVisa members.

Seems this is the 4th time you have entered Thailand since your new passport was issued. Might this be the reason? Only a guess!
