Thai cops on Sukhumvit don't look super friendly either.

Uniformed, dark glasses, boots, masks. Holstered gun. 2 of them. "Hey You!".

I still didn't flee them into the path of an oncoming truck. I smiled and showed them what they needed. I let them search my bag. No need to flee, because I had nothing illegal in there.

2 minutes later I was on my way to an ice cold beverage.

The agents involved in this incident were confirmed in the OP as being Border Patrol agents, not ICE agents.

They were BorderPatrol agents, not ICE agents. From the OP...

I have lived as an ethnic minority for 20 years in Thailand. Double charged many times. Singled out for traffic stops. Singled out for police checks and searches as I walk to the pub, all due to my ethnicity.

I'm not complaining, I love it here and I'm a realist. But don't claim I don't know what it's like.

Soon, I will be an ethnic minority in my own country. At least the Mexicans have Mexico.
