oh yes, that drivel has made headlines more times than worth remembering

That "drivel" was found as an undisputable fact by science worldwide. Clearly, you are a victim of an Internet echo chamber (a mental "niche product"). It won't be long and you will feel very much alone.

I do not believe there were no warnings that wildfires would escalate. However, I wrote a post in the other wildfire thread about forests, wildlife, and livestock, which I can contribute here instead

Nature is overwhelmingly powerful, but that does not mean humans are powerless or harmless. We cannot create hurricanes or volcanoes, but we can change the climate, destroy ecosystems, pollute oceans,

Think they reversed that idea about methane in permafrost a while back. Found bacteria eating all the theoretical methane in the permafrost, there's none left to release.

Holy smoke. Bacteria eating methane? Possibly also eating plastic? What university or private company is working on that? TELL ME. I want in with my last Dollar. Offering me the possibility to rub elbows with Elon Musk soon.

Climate change is clearly drivel which only the most gullible lefties believe.

Well, I guess nobody from the government knocked on your door and personally warned you?

Probably true. 😄

Because wildfire risk has been discussed in climate science (IPCC)

since the 1980s.

Major reports like those from the have repeatedly included:

increased wildfire frequency

more intense fire behavior

expansion into new regions

Sounds like you either weren't paying attention or didn't care because the problem was farther away than the nose on your face.

Out of scope.

Me, me, me.

Now that the flames are nipping at your doorstep, now you're starting to catch on.

Good job. 👍

Literally, stronger hurricane seasons, wildfires and stronger rain storms are on the list of climate warming 'symptoms' since the 1980s.

If feeling generous, one might discuss, how much of this warming trend is huiman-made, and how much part of a natural cycle, or if those two things are re-inforcing each other.

But that the planet is warming very fast, and wildfires as one of the more harmless issues arising from it, was never in doubt (if a few fires shock you, wait for mega-droughts or the Gulf Stream shutting down because the temperature differential is missing).

I personally believe, it is nearly all human-made, so it is us, personally (or our children), who will answer for our shortsightedness and greed.

Bull. But it shows that the internet is a magic place. You can search until you find what you want to find. Whatever absurd theories you want to find, contradicting verified science or common sense, you find them in the internet.

Warming? 50 years ago they were busy warning about another ice age.

And even that you will get, or something that will seem like it for half of the western World: as soon as the Gulf Stream shuts down (too much cold meltwater form greenland killing the temperature differential making it move warm water over the Atlantic), Europe will have the same temperatures as on the American continent in the same latitude.

In Europe, it will be much colder, but only after farmers and forests have tried to change for the severe temperature spike we are going through now, so it will be double bad.

I know, it makes some peoples heads explode, that the whole planet warming does not mean, that everywhere will be warmer, or all at the same rate.

But, what scientist were specifically warning 50 years ago: looking at geological and solar cycles, we are pretty much at the normal end phase of a warm interglacial -- something completely unrelated. It seems that we have heated the planet up even against this natural temperature dampening cycle, so we will be in for a horrible rollercoaster ride in the coming 50 years.

True, I could post you a scientific study saying the opposite within minutes, or one saying something completely left-field.

Again, something that makes heads explode: science is having a hypothesis and testing it against reality. This can lead to answers that are overturned later, because data was not exact enough, or the data was interpreted wrong.

I, or my daughter, will see who was right. I am not an optimist that pumping the athmosphere full of carbon dioxide that took 300 million years to put down as coal or oil within a human lifespan is not a problem, so I actually hope the climate deniers are right.

Stop using cars and planes then.

Ladies & gentlemen. Let's get down to the "nitty gritty". HOW CAN I PROFIT FROM CLIMATE CHANGE ?

Sell your Miami Beach Property and buy land in northern Canada or Scandinavia. It will become valuable farmland. Your grandchildren will love you for that.

Weather happens today. Climate change is a long term process. "Natural forces" can cause climate change. Taking millions of years. This time around, we are managing to shorten this process to a few decades.

Start "Googeling" CO2 and then expand on it. First, some basic phisycs must be understood, then the rest will fall into place. Even for you.

I read over 100 papers on it. Scam buddy.

And then, you selected the 10 papers that supported your view. Unless you asked Google: "Show me contributions climate change is a hoax". That should produce more than 100 papers. By Googeling "Cimate change" would produce 10 thousand pages, disqualifying your view.

I looked at the science. No credible science that shows a problem.

Suggest you try this new invention called books and google. It is full of information to educate people but of course does not deal in conspiracy theories that infect millions of people who think they know more than all the scientists that have spent centuries watching weather and compilling data over the centuries over the long term impact of weather and how it can and does change and is influenced by human activity and many other complex forces of nature.

cool "symptoms" bro

a strange record was set: It has been 1,048 days since a hurricane developed in or entered the Gulf. That is the longest streak in the past 130 years, since formal record-keeping began in 1886.

...its a downward trend

https://holoceneclimate.com/temperature-versus-co2-the-big-picture.html

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Cenozoic_Ice_Age

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_age

we are still stuck in the deepest ice age since before complex life evolved, (Quaternary ice age) and almost all lives lost are due to cold, not warmth

https://ourworldindata.org/part-one-how-many-people-die-from-extreme-temperatures-and-how-could-this-change-in-the-future

Globally, cold deaths are 9 times higher than heat-related ones. In no region is this ratio less than 3, and in many, it’s over 10 times higher. Cold is more deadly than heat, even in the hottest parts of the world.

The Myth is that climate was lovely during little ice age 1300-1850.

Reality is that crops would routinely freeze over before they had time to ripen, and famine was the norm, and europeans migrated to americas in a last attempt to stave off starvation

little ice age 1300-1850 is the coldest sustained interval the past 10.000 years, and it was a period marked by famine and suffering.

We are better off in every way now that LIA finally ended
