British vlogger faces calls for Thai investigation

Featured Replies

A British social media personality known as DannyBoy83 is facing calls for an investigation by Thai authorities, after footage emerged of him making racist and threatening remarks about Thai people.

Daniel Harper, who has previously attracted media attention over his behaviour overseas, later claimed that some of the material circulating online had been altered using artificial intelligence.

Footage shows sustained abuse

In the recording, Harper repeatedly insults Thais, uses racist slurs comparing Thai people to animals, and makes derogatory comments about poverty and sex work in Thailand.

"I hate 'em," Harper says, before continuing his abuse and saying he no longer wanted to remain in the country.

He also appears to threaten indiscriminate violence, saying an encounter with Thai people was "going to go off" because he was going to "smack 'em up".

The recording ends with remarks insulting Thai eating habits and saying he could not wait to travel to Brazil.

Khaosod English said it reviewed several copies of the video preserved and republished by social media users. They showed a continuous rant by the same speaker, in the same setting, with no visible indication that the material had been AI-generated or assembled from separate clips.

The original posts have since disappeared from YouTube and TikTok accounts associated with DannyBoy83, but copies were saved and widely redistributed.

Harper says trolls altered some remarks

It is reported that Harper recorded the rant after an alleged altercation with people he described as the "Thai mafia" at a bar in Bangkok's Sukhumvit area early on Tuesday.

In a later video posted at about 21:00 on Tuesday, 28 July, Harper said online trolls had changed parts of the material.

"I never said some of that stuff," he said. "The trolls have tweaked it. That's like AI. That ain't me."

His wording appeared to challenge only some statements, rather than deny he was the person in the recording. Harper also said he had a flight scheduled for the following week.

An apology video was reportedly posted and subsequently removed, although Khaosod English said it had not obtained a complete independently verified copy.

No Thai police or immigration authority had issued a statement on Harper at the time of publication.

Earlier arrest in Britain

Harper previously made headlines in Britain. The Sun reported in late 2025 that the then-42-year-old was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport after returning from Brazil.

Kent Police reportedly said he was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage, then released on bail while inquiries continued. An arrest does not establish guilt, and Khaosod English found no later public confirmation of the investigation's outcome.

The Sun described Harper as being from Cranbrook, Kent, and said he had gained more than 100,000 followers through videos documenting partying, drug use and encounters with sex workers during overseas trips.

AseanNow has viewed the video, but the offensive language, plus the anti Thai rhetoric, makes the video unsuitable to be posted on the forum. Below is a facebook link, if anyone wishes to view for themselves.

And when a Thai politician in Thailand makes similar comments about foreigners in Thailand, it is all ok. Right?

Yeah, he's insulting the nightlife ladies after having participated in the nightlife scene for years.

Rumor is he was robbed by those Thai guys in the bar when trying to "score something to smoke".

Just let his sorry butt get on the plane and black list him. Doesn’t seem like he can control his mouth so just keep him away from Thailand and people will get tired of his nonsense.

What a low class p%%%ck. Brazil and Thailand.. 2 of the best countries in the world.

Sounds like DannyBoy83 has finally crossed the line from being just a loudmouth party vlogger to someone actively insulting the country he’s currently in.

Thailand doesn’t need another foreigner making headlines for abusing locals. If Harper really “hates ’em,” as he is alleged to have said, maybe he should just catch that flight back to Brazil and spare everyone here the drama.

If he really wants something to mouth off about, maybe a trip to Pattaya and a close encounter with a pack of the local ladyboys would put the wind up him!

Mental illness is an epidemic for that generation today. I can understand if they did tour of duty in Vietnam, but there is no excuse for any of these folks to behave like this, unless they are messing with some serious chemicals that affect the brain.

Which Thai politicians said the same things as that guy said about Thai people?

Please don’t trot out the Anutin dirty foreigners quote. It’s not anywhere near the league that this guys comments are in.

Anutin is a politician, Dannyboyz is not.

But I actually agreed with Anutin and the infamous quote. Foreigners in Thailand are filthy

I know Anutin is a politician. Danny boy clearly not.

The post to which I replied said:

I asked the poster to name which Thai politicians made similar comments as dannyboy , excluding Anutins dirty foreigners quote since that is clearly not in the same league.

Picking fights far from home sometimes go very badly for you.

Ban him from Thailand end of his sort are not welcome 😱

I would agree that some are filthy, but I admire your honesty

Again we see Thais unable to take, criticism, or accept, at times, the truth......fact, Thais, like the rest of us, are not perfect, sorry if the truth hurts...I know Thais are taught differently.

Here's the thing...didn't they complain when Anutin called us "filthy farangs," no, not one word was said... SMH

You might be "filthy," but I certainly am not, as are the majority of foreigners.

I would say that the same modern technology itself is party responsible for the emergence of people like this. There are thousands of vloggers / bloggers on the internet these days and the numbers seem to have increased dramatically recently, they are all doing it for money and are constantly on the search and in competition with each other for "clicks" and "followers"

Many of these content creators are of limited intelligence ,and, therefore are unable to successfully compete with others for the all important clicks based on quality, so their chosen alternative tactic is to become controversial. So we have ended up with thousands of talentless You Tube contributors ,all trying to "out c*nt" each other, and this guy is a shining example, the worrying thing is that a hundred thousand people feel inclined to follow him

What would have been the point in their commenting or complaining , they would have struggled to be heard over the resultant whingeing that , as evidenced by you and other over sensitive souls, continues to this day , years after the event, get over it

I hope you are correct. I wasted a few moments in my life to watch his "production" - he really is a low life and the sooner we all hear nothing about him and his disgusting prejudiced rantings ever again the better

With respect @Aussie999 - you're out of line - those comments, though inappropriate were single utterances by people who should know better, not a tirade of ignorance and filth from a disgusting piece of rubbish (polite version).

Watch the video, a link to which is now posted in the OP.

Unfortunately as a Brit, I've met his type here in UK and abroad and avoid them at all costs!

From Aussie friends in Asia and ME, I know you have some similar ones there - my understanding is you call them "bogans" - the rough British equivalent is "chav."

If you do watch the video, i think you might agree with me that this individual wouldn't even be considered that high in the food chain!

Words don't fail me but AN would ban me if I posted my true thoughts about him!

I rarely post about people's opinions - we all have 'em but this individual (not your opinion!) angered even me. 😡😡😡😡

Perhaps you can provide a few examples of a Thai politician making similar denigrating remarks about foreigners using similar vulgar language.
