Thai police have arrested two men in Rayong Province as the search continues for a Russian brother and sister reported missing in Chonburi.

The suspects have been identified only by the nicknames "Pong" and "Thong". They were detained by officers from Region 2 Police Investigation Division after what police described as an intensive manhunt.

Neither the whereabouts nor the fate of the two Russian nationals has been confirmed. Detectives are now questioning the two men while trying to establish what happened to the missing siblings.

Questioning under way

The arrests were made by a team led by the commander of Region 2 Police's Investigation Division.

Police said the suspects are undergoing extensive questioning as investigators assess their alleged connection to the case. The authorities have said further information will be made public as their inquiries progress.

Hopefully the cops will get some answers out of these two crooks.

Get the answers out of them, then let them "escape", and shoot them

Saves housing and feeding them, We should do that in the UK

Innocent until proven guilty, but that doesn't mean that a spoonful of duress would go amiss. If those kids are still alive I'll eat a bug.

There’s apparently a crocodile farm in proximity to where the bike was buried reported on Amarin tv news this evening.

All for a buried bike ?

Much more to this story I think.

It's early days in the investigation of course, but I've got to comment on how well and how quickly the RTP has acted on this. They get a lot of bashing for a lot of things, but they've done well on this. Still some way to go of course.

UPDATE

Police confirm no arrests in missing Russians case

A late night statement by the Royal Thai Police has confirmed that Pong and Thong have not been arrested, despite multiple local news reports that they had been caught in Rayong province.

Provincial Police Region 2 investigators are continuing to trace the men, examine leads and follow their possible escape route.

Police statement confirms that local news reports claiming that two key suspects, Pong and Thong, had already been arrested in Rayong are incorrect and they have not been located.
