Yes I could have given them a US address.

However the reason I really didn't want to do that is they were filing an official and "signed" IRS federal form. I've filed with the IRS for decades with a Thai address.

To have that form showing a US address seemed like a bad move.

I have now given Bangkok Bank my Pink ID card, driving licence, yellow house book, my wife’s house book, and proof of my phone number. For some reason, the head office even reprimanded the bank officer because she could not prove that we were married, even though we have never registered our marriage in Thailand and I am on a retirement visa.

Should be a walk in the park from now on! We’ll register our marriage when we’re back. I’m sure a few more surprises will show up along the way. 😉

I have been with Bangkok Bank since Jesus was a baby. Never had any problems. Therefore, I have a feeling I am not being treated like a proper moaning git farang. Who should I complain to?

This is why I have not closed any of my Thai bank accounts. Keep them and the corresponding credit cards active no matter what. Just before I retired and gave up my WP I opened a new account at Citibank, and got a new credit card from them. Those are now with UOB of course.

I counsel everyone to do the same.
