Russia launched ballistic missiles and drones at Ukraine, killing at least 14 people and injuring at least 22 others in one of the deadliest strikes on Kyiv this year, officials said. The attack began after midnight on Wednesday, when air raid alerts were issued for more than an hour. Waves of ballistic missiles struck Kyiv and surrounding areas, according to the Kyiv military administration. Deaths Reported Across Several DistrictsTimur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said: “The enemy is once again massively attacking the Kyiv region”. Kyiv officials said the strikes damaged residential buildings and warehouses. Tkachenko said nine people died in the Boryspil district, four in Bucha, and one in Fastiv. Fears of Trapped People After City Centre HitsKyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said there were concerns people could be trapped under rubble following strikes on the centre of the city. He added that four of the injured were in serious condition. Kyiv’s military administration also said the attacks targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure. Ukraine has urged allies to provide more US-made Patriot missile interceptors to defend against Russian ballistic attacks. Russia Cites Logistics TargetsRussia’s defence ministry said it had hit logistics hubs and supply centres in Kyiv and the surrounding region. It said the sites were used for the storage and delivery of weapons and military supplies and for the production and distribution of unmanned aerial vehicles. The ministry also said it hit three cargo vessels “which were transporting weapons and military equipment” near the Black Sea port of Odesa. Wider Pattern of Attacks and Counter-AccusationsRussia has intensified strikes on Kyiv in recent weeks, while Ukraine has also increased its attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, including power facilities. Ukrainian officials say Russia has repeatedly hit warehouses, including those of the Wildberries e-commerce company. Five people were killed and 10 wounded in the Moscow region on Tuesday morning in strikes on warehouses, Russian authorities said. The day before, Russian officials said seven people died and 58 were injured after a drone hit a busy beach in the southern Krasnodar region. Separately, Ukraine expressed anger at a video showing a man chased by a drone in Kherson, describing it as a deliberate “hunt” and “safari” targeting civilians.
