I thought that too. Alas, she can easily unblock him secretly. So that's no use. Much better not to block, and see what he writes. If you block they could find a clandestine way to communicate. If he writes I know he still thinks this is the way to communicate. Easier to keep an eye on it. And he'll get tired eventually when he sees no response for months. And she can't respond because she knows I monitor it daily.

He likes to pretend that he's an expert on everything. ironically, he's one of those who 'cashed out' and now lives in a house on government land that is unsaleable, the wife is long gone and he's stuck there, unable to move back to the USA.

His own words.

I'm going by what I've seen here with many foreign friends, along with what others have said consistently. I've lived almost 70 years both in cities, towns and villages both here and back home, so I do know a little of what goes on. Ask yourself if what you said is personal experience or just an assumption, going by how many you actually know. You do know you need to have a certain amount to stay here past a tourist's cash flow, besides the few criminals and drifters right? Or do you think they spent all their money and are living here free on a Thai woman's income?

Try not to join those who assume here, as guessing what a person has you never met doesn't work. Especially regarding our now number one troll, who has no idea how anyone lives here, let alone me. never answers questions about himself but just brags all women find him irresistible, isn't retired nor working here, yet lives here year long.

Why not find a woman who isn't secretly talking to other men, or worse? So many naive ones here you can have your pick, as long as you have enough to pay their lifestyle. Women can have more than one phone also.

The OP creates an imaginary situation then says he's never been able work this one out 😂

That's like saying I can never work out why people who own flying horses waste money on commercial flights.

There's many different types of relationships in Thailand, some work out well in the longer term, some were never intended to be long term, and some crash and burn.

But if you're not in a successful, long term relationship yourself, your social circle is unlikely to contain the men who won the Thai woman jackpot.

Your acquaintances can often be a reflection of your own values.

The constipated mathematician worked it out with a pencil.

My apologies for not posting nearer the top of the thread.

You of course know all about that subject. Naive women for whom you can pay their lifestyle.

I'll just have to take your word for it.

It's a matter of statistics. Whilst indeed there are loyal women, who do not talk to exes and other guys, they are small in number now, a tiny minority. When you further factor in that I only choose girls in the 18 to 25 years old range who are highly attractive, this further reduces the number of loyal women considerably.

It's hard to find a woman per se as a man. To then find one who is not talking to other guys, given the above parametres, is like winning the lottery. Very unlikely. I had to move to SE Asia to learn this.

And yes, I may have a little money, but I'm 55 and my looks and social standing and SMV are declining. And don't forget women are only loyal if they think you are the absolutely best they can get. Yes, they will sleep with you, and even have a relationship with you if you are in the maybe category. But only the "Hell yes!" category gets loyalty. For that I'd have to have millions or look like a 19 year old surfer or have the social standing of Zhao Wei. As it is, I'm just a normal guy.

If you take out the assumptions there, you'll see you don't know anyone besides those you deal with personally. What others say can be the truth or an exaggeration, as losing face isn't only a Thai thing. The younger a woman is, the more likely she is to be a player, even though she can't use a man for sex.

A decent woman will be loyal to you no matter what's out there, or if she could "get" another easily. They aren't all that stupid, knowing their time will come eventually. A woman who goes with men for money and replaces one after another will be dealt that same hand soon enough.

Women age faster than men as far as attraction level is concerned, and they'll end up all alone or with a POS if they keep letting the good ones go, as they're few and far between.

I left behind a few very good women I could have stayed with, as they didn't have everything I wanted, although they did have everything I need, and came here and found a jerk. Now I have to move back with my daughter after things are settled here and start over, but I have faith I'll find another, older woman who is more independent, and less likely to play games, as the younger ones are more likely to.

I left behind a few very good women I could have stayed with, as they didn't have everything I wanted, although they did have everything I need, and came here and found a jerk.

I'm in much the same situation. However, I do not share this "just go for an older woman" philosophy. Sure, you'd increase your odds of getting a decent woman, she has no other option but to be decent after all since nobody wants her, but I would rather try and find a young and attractive woman that is decent, loyal etc.

I know the odds of that are very small indeed, but looks like we're both hoping. Hope never dies.

And you will find a decent woman possibly, but we both know the odds are against us, knowing female nature as we do.

No, women are either decent or they're not. You can't go a lifetime conning others without being called out. As they get older, they mature more, and want a decent man more than his money, unless they've been leeches all their lives as many have. The odds of finding either a decent man or woman are very low, no matter the age. I'm not going after a woman my age but younger and certainly fit, which is a better match for me anyway. You'd be surprised how many older men want a decent older woman who won't play games, and is still attractive enough to make him smile. People are people, and some take care of themselves all their lives, and most fall apart because they don't.

I disagree. But there are levels.

3 minutes ago, fredwiggy said:

No, I think decency, loyalty, correct behaviour, these are learnt behaviours.

Sure, some women get it from the earliest age, via their parents, whilst others are neglected and take a long time to learn it themselves or never learn it. But in essence it is a learnt behaviour.

The typical scenario in fact is that an attractive woman is indecent, ie disloyal, when she is 18 to 29, and then learns to be loyal and decent as she herself gets disappointed from guys as she gets older. Though of course there are exceptions to this, as always.

5 minutes ago, fredwiggy said:

That's exactly what I'm saying. But it is much harder for a woman to be decent. Because women find it so easy to be disloyal, they have so many temptations. Everybody wants them. It is in fact a miracle not all women monkey branch and there are decent women at all. A woman is incentivized to be disloyal, and change partners, because it is so easy for her and so profitable. Always a better option.

For a man it's different. It is much harder to find women who want to sleep with you, let alone a relationship with you, so men learn to be decent much earlier. It is in our DNA anyway, men are taught to be dependable, to sacrifice, think of others. Women are never taught this, quite the opposite, they are taught if the ship sinks it is your right to go first and let everyone drown. Because you are a woman. Women are just more desirable than men.

As you suggested in your first paragraph, that is not my experience.

"Woman provides the care"? That sounds like you are writing from the point of view of an old man, who needs a carer.

In a normal relationship you care for and support each other. Your scenario appears to be of women who don't have money of their own or are simply too mean to share it.

Perhaps it is the norm for many, but it hasn't ever been mine.

IMO being old beats the alternative.

Yes, everything is a leaned behavior, most coming from childhood. It's very hard for a person who's neglected and or abused in childhood to separate themselves from that history, but possible when they have good support and love outside the childhood home. Yes, some people learn from mistakes and try to treat others better because they lost decent partners because of it. A narcissist will rarely change, usually going back to those behaviors, especially when stressed.

It’s watching a dude who came to Thailand looking for freedom end up asking for permission to spend his own money, where he's allowed to go, what he's allowed to eat, and who he's allowed to talk with.

That’s the bit I just can’t make sense of.

According to science: You lose your sanity when you fall in love, because the brain goes through a chemical state of emergency that resembles a temporary psychosis or an intense intoxication. When you fall head over heels for another person, your brain throttles down the areas that control critical thinking, logic and judgment. It's a biological mechanism that's popularly called "love is blind," and there's a very clear neurological explanation for it.

According to experienced authors writing about Thailand: In Suvarnabhumi — and other international Thai — airports is, next to the luggage deposit counter, a brain deposit, which multiple mainly male visitors use upon arrival...🫣

I don't know which one of these two very valid statements is correct...🤔 — perhaps it's a combination if both...😉

To my experience — however, I luckily didn't used the brain deposit facility — when a 30+ years younger gorgeous looking bird seems to like you enough to wish to stay with you, it feels as good as reliving a stormy teenager-love...😍 So, why not giving it a try? You could risk feeling sad long time if you didn't, secretly being in love with someone that you later cannot reach; someone else might already have taken her. And yes, it might be "to good to be true" — remember "love is blind" — and if you continue that state all your education and life experience is erased and void; you are trapped.

So, when giving it a try — don't forget to keep enough intact and in excellent working condition inside the box over the eyes to consider, why you are so attractive to this young girl — if you keep being blinded, you might end up as OP says it about asking permission to use one's own money...🤥

As usual excellent points. Indeed when the Oxytocin kicks it in it impairs your brain. It is documented and proven. Nobody thinks rationally when they love someone. Quite right.

This is why men need to be so wary of the woman who is accomplished in creating this fantasy of love in a man. And some women excel at this. They fake love, and make you fall in love. Because they know, if they succeed in making you fall in love, she can control you, you are like putty in her hand.

It is very dangerous to be a man.

It's quite difficult to deal with such people, as they can be very draining, in the hope that they might at some point begin to behave 'normally'. It takes an enormous amount of energy, for relatively little in return. In order to restore balance and sanity, it is often necessary to create distance from those people.

Have you had any personal relationship success with people diagnosed with BPD or NPD?
