As an 'Advanced Member' of AN, it seems strange that you haven't figured this out by now like most other people have. You may not agree with the reasoning of these lowly foreigners that you preach down to, but you should at least have a vague idea of what's going on in their heads. Playing coy, are we?

I do know one ruthless Thai woman who fleeces wealthy farangs. No "sick buffalos" involved, it's high-level scheming and manipulation. She ticks the boxes this category of farang (smart but doesn't know squat about Thai culture) looks for: no tattoos, soft-spoken, educated, "has a business"… My God is she a ruthless b*tch. Plays the long game. Her cold intelligence is something to behold. The guys, once they realise they have been had, are too ashamed to admit it, cut their losses and disappear (she knows that, it's part of the plan).

Erm... so now you have seen it happen. But just by a wolf in sheep's clothing? 😊 It seems that we are splitting hairs now.

Remember that the OP is somewhat 'tongue-in-cheek'.

It's not hard if one realizes relationships in Thailand are transactional. The male provides financial support, the woman provides care. While there may be exceptions, IMO that is the norm.

My formula is to have 30% of my assets in Thailand, 70 % in Australia. It has been that way for 15 years.

I give my GF a monthly allowance. I bought her a house, because I could.

I live as well as I want to. My GF prays to Buddha for a long life for me.

Very true. Mistake number one is getting involved too quickly. Have some fun but really, really take your time. Many Thai women are very clever at making it appear that they really care for "their guy". And on many occasions, that is true, especially in long term relationships. But, for short time gals, it is just a game, and they play it well. Many Western men who come here are emotionally vulnerable, or an emotional wreck, having endured years of near torture by uber-feminists.

My advice would be to take your time. Don't move fast, don't move in with her, don't live with her, date her for 6 months to a year and see how you like her. Time is required to really get to know somebody and once you face some adversity together, once you see her many times under many different occasions, you really start to get a sense of who she is and whether or not she is somebody who has the kind of emotional development that would make her worthy of investing your own time into her. She will likely push back as a lot of Thai women like to step up the timetable, you are then required to push back and set the ground rules. If she's not okay with that, you just let her walk.

And always remember every woman has a story, some of them are real most of them are not, and a lot of these women are coached by women who are very skillful in telling a man what he wants to hear.

If you're dealing with a middle class woman from a stable family or from a woman from a wealthy family, it's a very different story. But most of the women we are exposed to come from families that are not well established, and families that are not financially secure, and this is a survival game for them. Beware. Be open to the possibilities but also remain open to really getting to know her and determining whether or not she deserves your devotion and support. That takes quite a while.

Thai women - by and large - make good mothers, regardless of class or wealth. They are good sex partners too. Do they all marry a farang just to improve their lifestyle? Many do. But many others are divorced, some have their own means - though usually not much. They're also fed up with Thai guys - which I have noticed to be a main driver. Anyway, once you have kids you find a real partnership just like any couple does anywhere. The kids become the focus. I still get checked out quite often by middle aged Thai women when I'm alone in a shopping mall (their husbands sometimes notice and give a dirty look). For guys living in Pattaya though, you are in a different environment, one that could easily leave you with the same impression as the OP.

I took two years with my GF.

The biggest part of the problem here, is the extreme emasculation that is taking place in the West. Most men, in the US, Europe, and Oz, are no longer real men, when it comes to dealing with their women. Their women have made their lives so difficult, and alot of women have gotten so far away from their innate femininity, and have become dominant, and super controlling, and men just go along with it. Most men have become so hungry for love, or emotionally desperate for some kindness, and TLC. And most are so desirous of being around a real woman, who knows how to act like a woman, and manifest the dignity, within femininity. So, it is easy for con artists, to take advantage of emotionally wounded men, who seem to be willing to do anything to regain a semblance of normality in their lives, with a decent woman.

According to single friends of mine, meeting in person is infinitely better, than online. First of all you know what you are getting! Second, the women you meet on the street, in a store, or a restaurant, at a party, are not hunting for men. They are not scavenging for a salary. Many have professions, and many are higher functioning gals, than alot of the online gals, and they are not as needy as many of the online gals.

Many of the gals online seem to do it full time. That is their life, they know every trick in the book, they hop from one to the other, until they find a guy who is willing to spill, bit time. And with the neediness of many Western men, you will have alot of competition for the pretty, younger ones.

So what would be the recipe for a healthy relationship? Start by meeting in person. NOT online. That is for the timid. Be aggressive, and assertive. And use humor. Thai women love to laugh and love a playful guy, who does not take himself too seriously. Thai women are generally friendly, especially if you speak some Thai. You will not get shut down like in the West. They may not be interested, but they will be polite about it. And it is a numbers game. A good friend of mine, who lived in the world's greatest gold mine for women, Bangkok, told me he methodically approached at least ten women a day, and got at least three of their phone numbers, or line contacts. He kept busy, and usually had a big smile on his face. Bangkok is unique. There are a ridiculous number of gorgeous women there.

It's a completely different story trying to meet a civilian in Phuket or Pattaya, as most of them do not want to have anything to do with a foreigner if they're not in the industry. Any other city in Thailand is right for the pickings, especially Bangkok.

Happy hunting!

They are good sex partners too.

Not really, you really have to train them well. Filipinas have a natural talent for sex, Thai women not so much. Even when they are very eager for sex they still lack this natural animal quality the Filipina women have. The Thai women also seem more prudish than the Filipinas.

I suspect this has to do with Buddhism being more successful in instilling morality than Catholicism. Catholicism raises the bar so high that most opt out. Buddhism is much smarter and sets the morality bar realistically, so many Thai girls actually are surprisingly religious and moral. A real problem when it comes to nasty sex.

It could also be that Thai women are just better negotiators, smarter in bartering sex for rewards. I have seen that a lot, Filipinas giving it away, Thai girls only if they get something out of it.

Very true. I see this in Thailand now too. Some of this has to do with mental illness, a lot of women have mental health issues now usually BPD and narcisissm. This leads women to become highly impulsive and controlling. A woman with BPD will change plans constantly and try to control everything.

There is little you can do about this. You can be as assertive as you can be, if she is mentally ill, her controlling and impulsive nature will not change.

Whilst it has now become official that social media is making young women insane, and Facebook was held legally responsible for this a few days ago, I do not see this changing anytime soon. My 25 year old gf routinely spends hours each week in front of the mirror putting on outfits, dancing, posing, like a crazy person.

As you suggested in your first paragraph, that is not my experience.

"Woman provides the care"? That sounds like you are writing from the point of view of an old man, who needs a carer.

In a normal relationship you care for and support each other. Your scenario appears to be of women who don't have money of their own or are simply too mean to share it.

Perhaps it is the norm for many, but it hasn't ever been mine.

You hit a woman you lose your status as a man. They hit you, they have a problem, so you leave, and take the children, so they aren't subjected to that abuse also. Remove the comments from the abusers and misogynist little boys, and you'll see how men act, as it's in their history of replies.

You are a very fortunate man. So much energy, time, resources is lost on pursuing the quest to drink the last drop of sexual adventure, and in the end it always disappoints. It is counterproductive actually, because the more you partake in sexual perversion the less you appreciate normal sex.

I wish I had grown up normal like you. Sadly, I found my father's porn collection and thus began a 30 year descent into sexual depravity the likes of which would make the Marquis blush. Porn has a lot to do with it. It's true, the more you look at one kind, the more your brain needs an additional hit to activate those pleasure zones, it gets more and more extreme.

So, yes, you do get extra pleasure from it, for sure, but there is a large price to pay.

Exactly. Men will never win anything by hitting a woman. Those that do were raised by fathers who likely did the same things to their moms, so they went into the adult stage (body wise but not mentally), thinking it's okay to demean, hit, use and objectify the women who fall for their BS. Thinking they're irresistible to all women but only ending up with the naive dreamers.

No. Yes, she could, but it's done in a playful way. Plus I'm the golden goose that pays her mother's motorcycle. Why would she kill the golden goose? With these Isaan girls though you can't show weakness. This is why I think I beat that 63 year old Australian guy. He still writes lovey dovey texts on Line, I see it, every day. So sad and pathetic. No wonder she left him. All the money in the world can't buy respect or love. Strength can.

As far as expats are concerned, the ones who build houses in the country are doing okay. I've never seen any I know in the years I've lived in Isaan that didn't have nice houses, cars and who travel in Thailand and go home to visit family. I would think most of those who aren't doing well would be lost in the large cities and tourist places, like the ones we see taking things from spiritual boxes, phones from shops, stealing weed, and begging to stay in paradise, as it's harder to do at home. The ones that a woman has robbed or scammed I feel for, as some were likely good men who fell for the wrong woman.

You're comparing some old fart cashed out and built some 3M baht home in Nakon Nowhere to crazy people that steal things from spirit houses.

Seems you don't know much about the city or the country

7 minutes ago, KornPop said:

If you are married, there are two general states of existence:

1) She calls all the shots, tells the man what to do, and does not partake in sexual adventure

2) He calls all the shots, and she gives up everything sexually freely.

If you are fortunate and get the second option, then what happens is that you get bored. Because she gives up everything. Even the most extreme things become boring. And she will only be trying to please until she has children anyway. So then you have your bit on the side and you catch feels for her. Think it'll be better with her. Of course it won't be. The story just restarts.
