Today I was on the beach early to watch sunrise. No motorbike shots as it was a 2 minute walk from my room.

 

Beautiful skies for a while. I am still hoping to see a thunderstorm over the sea to photograph.

 

Internet and laptop issues made the rest of the morning a pain.

This morning I rode south from Ban Krut looking for things to photograph, plenty of beach views!

 

I stopped where the pine trees line the beach, here.

That's a really nice little bay area, Bo Thong Lang Bay, we pop down there every now & then. Au Coffee has some good desserts, and Suda Villa is inexpensive, but not pet friendly.

Around to the next bay, further south is 'Follow Me cafe' and tasty food & desserts.

Today I woke early to get the camera ready to photograph sunrise, but there was heavy rain and I cancelled getting wet.

 

I left Ban Krut about 9am as Prachuap is not far away. There was a lot of rain out in the sea and it followed me to Prachuap.

I then rode north to the top of the bay, but none of my photos came out well.

Today, day 18 of my ride I left Prachuap Khiri Khan for the short ride to Sam Roi Yot. I followed the coast roads all the way with a couple of stops.

Only popped in there last year, after living here for almost 10 yrs. Me & the dog out looking for things to snap photos of. What's with the big ass parking lot, as I don't think anyone knows it's there.

There's another little park area a 7 kms south of, nice concrete wall and stepped down to the sand, and again, rarely sees visitors. Also called Wa Khao, with Khun Rong Palat Chu Shrine.

Both nice private areas, if a confident swimmer and surf is cooperating. No developement, so no concerns about fecal count 👍

This morning I was on the beach at Sam Roi Yod before sunrise.

 

The colour of the sky was constantly changing very quickly. The sky shots with the pink clouds lasted less than 2 minutes before changing.

 

It started to drizzle as I walked back to the bike and it rained on and off all day.

This morning was another early start. I rode to the Beach in front of Nom Sao Island, here.

It was still dark when I arrived and the local dogs were feisty. I needed my phones torch to find my way to the beach, the dogs didn’t like the light and left me alone.

 

Even after setting up the camera and tripod it was still dark and the first photo I took was about 15 seconds.

 

The sun and sky didn’t have the colours of yesterday, so I concentrated on photographing  the fishing boats.

Today I left Sam Roi Yod and rode to Cha-am, a 109km route via Pran Buri Reservoir avoiding main roads mostly.

87k on it now, just punctures and one lose electric contact that a friend fixed quickly. Its a 142 cc now to get me up mountain tracks

This morning I was on the beach at Cha-am just after 5am and after a walk in the pitch black and setting up I was ready to take photos by 5.30am.

 

I still had to wait a while until there was enough light to focus even manually. My first shot was 5.44, and was a 30 second exposure.

 

Unfortunately the actual sunrise was hidden behind the clouds, but a still managed to get some shots.

Today I rode an inland loop, more accurately a figure of 8.

 

My first stop was not far, Dvaravati archaeological site, Khok Setthi, here.

 

Not a lot to see, but if in the area worth a look.

 

I then rode to the dam at Kaeng Krachan Dam, but seeing I had to pay to see it (unusual, most dams are free) and it had started to drizzle I turned off and rode to Kaeng Krachan Beach, which had similar views, here.

Those jars. I know that's basically a Thai bath with the addition of a scooper made from a coconut, but wonder what the correlation to the Laos Plain of Jars might be...?

What type of rain gear are you using ?

I have a separate jacket and trousers, only used once in Kanchanaburi on this tour. Usually if i see rain i make a detour if possible

This morning I left Cha-am for Kanchanaburi, there were showers around and I got caught in a heavy and windy storm for a while, just once luckily..

 

My route is the best route between the two cities, no main roads and winding roads through the national parks. A great 200 plus km ride.

Today I went looking for some more sites of the Death Railway that run from Kanchanaburi to the north west.

 

My first stop was at Ban Pu Pong Railway station, which I visited at the start of my trip.

This station was different, busy with people and even a taxi stand, restaurants etc.

 

From here, again just up the line was Nam Tok Sai Yok Noi Railway Station, again new to me and well worth a visit to see the train there and the waterfall for free.
