At the time the FAA permitted 4" blades in the cabin. Once through the metal detector, what ever is in your carry on you are free to place on your body. The dudes on security follow FAA policy, not airlines.

A 2001 X-ray machine, if available, would need to detect then. Unlike now, airport X-ray scanners then were pretty primitive; think of the junky things you see board hotel staff pretend to look at in Indian hotels. In a bag full of stuff, the operator isn't going to spot them. These days, the system differentiates between material types, and applies a pseudo-colour for the operator, ie telling what's metal and what's organic. Back then, it was just a black and white image. Even if they did spot basically a craft knife, guess what, under the rules of the time, no problem. Most passengers back then walked through the metal detectors with pockets a jangling with change, keys, maybe even that Supertool on your belt. In 2001, only about 5 airports had the back scatter machines, and nothing like today. Its easy to forget how things have changed.

Yes. Osama bin Laden's relatives. They flew out same day I recall. Which raises the question, how did Cheney and Rumsfeld know bin Laden was the mastermind the very same day as the attack? Another indicator that this was a flase flag. Eventually a CNN reporter managed to find and interview bin Laden and he told the reporter he wasn't responsible for the attack and he didn't know who was. Still, the Bush Administration continued to blame him and the MSM went along with it (that's why they attacked Afghanistan saying bin Laden was hiding in caves). There were later video and audio recordings of bin Laden broadcast saying he was responsible, but they are dubious recordings and some have been debunked by experts saying potential look alikes were used.

But the enemy combatants were not, and Hiroshima was a military target.

You'll never convince the American 'patriots' that the official story was bogus. The evidence that the official story is full of holes and even ignores major events (like building 7 collapse as just one example) is obvious to anyone who cares to take note. But what it really says to me is that Cheney and Rumsfeld (and maybe Israel) knew in advance they'd get away with it, they'd already studied the psyche of the American public and were satisfied enough Americans would believe the 'official' narrative. They probably already had an army of debunkers trained and ready to attack the skeptics. They were lucky though that no one lived to tell the tale. If one of those planes crashed and there were survivors the biggest scandal in centuries would be unleashed.
