Trump accused of 'lie' over bizarre 9/11 brag

Donald Trump has been accused of lying about how he immediately sent rescue workers to help following the 9/11 tragedy which saw nearly 3,000 people lose their lives.

While recounting his memories of the incident to Fox News host Trey Gowdy, President Trump claimed he watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center.

He then claimed that he went to the disaster area shortly afterward with construction workers.

"I went down. I was building a building in New York and I had a lot of construction workers, and I went down there very shortly thereafter the following day you couldn't go down the same day, but like the following day very, very quickly afterwards, and we worked long and hard," Trump said.

Over on X, one person replied: "He’s lying. It’s lies on top of lies on top of lies."

Another tweeted: "He is so full of ****!!!"

"He lies because it doesn't matter... His base doesn't care if he does. They dont look into it or care. They would rather live the lie. Why tell the truth when you can make up your own stories," a third added.

Trump has made similar claims before.

"Soon after, I went down to Ground Zero with men who worked for me to try to help in any little way that we could. We were not alone. So many others were scattered around trying to do the same. They were all trying to help," Trump said in 2019.

But, a construction executive who worked for Trump previously said he was not aware of him providing hundreds of workers.

Richard Alles, battalion chief of the New York Fire Department at the time of the attacks, told PolitiFact: "I was there for several months — I have no knowledge of his being down there."

The Washington Post and the Associated Press reached out to Trump in 2016 about how he helped, and they didn’t receive responses.

If Trump had sent a crew of 100 workers, 'there would be a record of it. Everybody worked under direct supervision of the police and fire department and the joint commander for emergency services. Is there a chance he was ever down there by himself and I didn’t know it? It’s possible, but I know of no one who ever witnessed him there', Alles added.

• Media Footprint: Trump did do a televised interview near Ground Zero a few days later, on 13 September 2001, but he was there as a witness and local real estate figure giving media commentary, not as a rescue worker.

Where Was Trump?

On the actual day of September 11, Trump was at Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan, where he watched the tragedy unfold from his windows and on television. While he did later sign funding extensions for 9/11 first responders during his presidency, his personal physical involvement in the immediate search-and-rescue operation remains entirely unsupported by evidence.

What is even more Bizarre is that most of the Terrorists were from Saudi Arabia Elite, and we invade Iraq?? Why didn't we invade Saudi Arabia - doesn't make sense. Just a few years earlier, post Pan Am Lockerbie, I was embarking on moving over to the US for a year. My bags were searched before check in. The Agents questioned the heal of a walking boot they felt in my rucksack, because they thought it was a box. But they were completely cool about me taking into the cabin my two ice Axes (I was a keen hillwalker then).

Before 9/11 "small knives" with a blade less than 4" were permitted under FAA rules. Some airlines had restrictions on "boxcutters" if they were discovered during random checks. However there is obvious ambiguity; no Stanley Knife I ever had would have a blade that extended more than 1" or so. That's the whole point of them. A Stanley Knife is generally loaded with little blades in the case, which all fall out in an oily mess when you attempt to refit a new blade.

"Box cutters" are a bit different, and generally less familiar to non-Americans. These also have blades that only extend out a little bit. But when they blunt, you snap off a section to allow the next bit to extend out of the handle assembly.

Its utterly wrong to refer to these as "suicide attacks". They were not acts of suicide but acts of murder. Howard looks like he's losing his marbles.

I know there is not a lot of point replying to you because you have blocked 90% of members because of what seems a frankly insane desire to start as many threads as possible. But I know you didn't actually listen to the interview, because if you did, you know Howard didn't actually say those words. What he said, when referring to Islamic extremists, was "part of the doctrine of these people is a hatred of the West", along with I suppose a hatred of lots of other things. He never actually said "hatred of the West remains a serious concern". That headline was the synopsis of the person uploading to Youtube charged with maximising views. The way it works is that a Youtuber will upload several thumbnails, and the system tests and picks which one gets the most engagement. Its a platform that is quite manipulative of base emotions.

And while the former Premier claimed 21 Australians died on 911, the interviewer, correctly, reminded him it was 10. The strange way Howard repeated the interviewers phrasing at the end suggested not all was well with him.

Why do you think its unclear Roadsternut some of the terroists that boarded the flights were carrying blades in there back pockets which the used to kill cabin crew and pilots its not unclear but Riclag refuses to answer this breach of security that could have prevented the aircraft flying into the towers.

This is wat is considered a box-cutter in the US and it uses a disposable single-edge razor blade that can be changed quickley and easily without tools.

They can be hidden pretty easily.

Mark Desire was actually on site setting up a temporary morgue when a Tower collapsed around him. He survived, got back to work the next day, and has spent the last 25 yrs leading the DNA investigation to identify victims.

He promise victims' families to keep testing degraded remains until everyone is brought home .

Indeed it doesn't change the event, it only exposes that 6000 lives could have been saved if the REPUBLICAN mayor, once hailed as a hero, hadn't lied to the citizens of NY.
