Hello, hope everyone is having a great day. I will be going to Thailand in early October for a month or so. From what I read on this site this is how I see it - as a US passport holder I do not need to apply for any sort of visa if my stay will be 30 days or less, correct? Do I just need to show a round trip ticket for 30 days and thats it? Thank you very much for your replies, I just want to make sure I have this straight before I book a flight :o

Up to 30 days is fine for you without a visa and with a confirmed outbound airticket within that 30 days. You must count the day of arrival as one day and the day of departure as another day, so it is 28 clear days stay. You do talk of a stay of " a month or so " so if there is any chance of your stay exceeding 30 days, get a tourist visa in the US before you leave.

Just to add to the other post. I have never been asked to show my return ticket. Last time I was there was in June 2007.

When you are on the flight, you will be given an immigration card before you get to Bangkok. You have to fill in your current flight and return flight information on here from your ticket. Also, on the flight that will be landing in Bangkok, ask the flight attendant for the immigration card during the beginning of the flight, then you won't feel rushed filling it out. Also, if you make a mistake, you can always get another one faster than when they are handing them out to everyone towards the end of the flight. Takes away the some of the flight stress especially because you will have time to ask any questions you may have about it. :o When you get to immigration in the airport, you hand them your passport and the immigration card. Makesure you don't go to the counter where they process some other countries that have a different entry procedure, visa requirement and fee. I made that mistake my first time there and wasted a lot of time.

If this is your first time to Bangkok, have a wonderful experience.
