Exactly, I used a Samsung for about a year.

When I moved to Thailand my iPhone couldn't be used here, never really understood why.

So being penny wise and pound foolish I bought a Samsung.

I figured it would take a while to get up to speed.

After a year I decided it just wasn't as useful to me as an iPhone and I bought an iPhone.

This was entirely about the iPhone and the Mac working together.

Even just the ability to cut and paste from phone to laptop made it worth the switch back.

I am not concerned with most of the gee whiz tech stuff that people argue about.

I use it in my work and to communicate with friends and family.

I am most decidedly not an "Apple fan boy".

I have never put the little apple logo sticker on anything when buying an Apple product.

As additional evidence I submit that I don't know what iPhone version I have.

Iphone 12, 13, or 15?

I remember it isn't 14 for some reason.

When people ask me or I need to check for compatibility I have to go into the phone menus to check.

Most of the time it doesn't matter to me.

I totally applaud the Euro Union forcing the change to connectors.

Probably my biggest complaints against Apple are on the handling of sound and photo files.

These are handled differently than other files and using them on the Mac is awkward at best.

Anyway, as this poster has said, the way iPhone and Mac work together is the big reason I use an iPhone.

You can still buy them, although Apple has apparently decided that leasing the phones will be an option for anyone who sees that as a benefit. The payments go through one of the "buy now pay later" type firms, so Apple gets their money up front, or so it would seem. At the end of the lease term, the customer has the option to buy the phone outright by paying the remainder of the retail price that hasn't already been paid via the monthly lease payments.

The folding-phone argument is particularly weak. Yes, Apple hasn’t released one yet. But being first to market doesn’t automatically mean being the best. Samsung got there early — fair play — but congratulations on being first to put a visible crease down the middle of a phone. 😂

And USB-C? Apple adopted it when the industry standard had moved that way. Apparently using the same connector as everyone else is now evidence of “subpar tech.” 🤔 It’s a charging port, mate, not a technological revolution.

As for “overpriced”, premium phones from both Apple and Samsung cost plenty. If you’re happy paying premium money for a folding phone with a crease, fragile display and compromises that come with the design, that’s entirely your choice. 👍

You prefer Android. Nobody has a problem with that.

But you still haven’t actually explained what makes iOS a “joke”. You’ve listed features Apple was late to. That’s not the same argument.

Being first doesn’t necessarily mean being best — otherwise we’d all still be using the first version of everything.

I was discussing current phones and technology. You wandered in from 1985 with a Commodore 64 vs ZX Spectrum analogy. 🤣

well I for one jumped over the walled garden and do not regret one bit. Still have an disused iPhone 6 in the drawer and sold my iPhone 13 to a Thai bod in April. Replaced by a Samsung S26, the difference is chalk and cheese, great software and so light... watching the ''no charger in the box'' dude on Tube did it for me, Samsung Knights, Google gangsters..... 😄

It looks like we are on the same page @Burma Bill as I gave away my old Nokia flip phone a few years ago and bought an Apple iPhone SE, which I've still got and which works well even though it's nearly 10 years old.

I was convinced by a friend to go up a few models so I bought the iPhone SE (2024 model I think) and even though it's got the latest operating software, there's far too much on it for me and even though my friend keeps wanting me to put on various apps and other stuff, for me it becomes confusing.

So I said to him, that basically I just need a mobile phone for telephone calls and SMS messages, that's all, nothing else and nothing fancy and I don't care if the operating system is out of date, as long as it works at a basic level, which it does.

I have been tempted to go back to a Nokia on a few occasions, although this old Apple is currently serving me well and the new one I bought is sitting in a drawer.

For the record I do everything else on my computer and that is fine by me and I don't need to carry all that information around on my mobile phone.
