The guy who looks up every rule in the book and thinks life operates 100% of the time by a strict rule book and every other human being on the planet is perpetually referencing the rule book 24/7 and nothing ever deviates from the rule book.

What a joke.

For some people, that is how it is. That's how Trump got voted in. People who wanted the rule book to be torn up. Be careful for what you wish...as you just might get it.

If people are not free to discuss what they really think, then the whole premise is fake. That's different from someone simply posting to inflame, with no intent to discuss at all.

I don't care about any arbitrary 'rules', as I live my life according to my moral compass. They can be themselves and i will be myself. Anything less than that is akin to being cowed in fear.

Oh yeah. This place is very fearful. Pathetic really. When I'm 70 I'm only going to be afraid of my kids putting me in one of those assisted liv8ng places

So that makes you what? A conformist? Bravo! You are toeing the line. Living like a mouse. Congratulations.

You haven't posted one comment about anything to do with the change in TVC advertising

Nah, just take good care of yourself and you'll never step foot into one.

An interesting little experiment is to look at the different possible classes of AN forum members.

Click on "search" and search without entering any text.

Click on "member search" and scroll down.

Of course the whole thing is pathetic. Pathetic old men acting like children.

But the topic is about the best way to moderate thoughts. And it doesn't work very well when it seems it always skews towards echo chamber.

Like 4chan for example. Exploded in popularity because young western guys thought it was free and anonymous. And if you'd used it you'd know it was just as monitored as reddit. Both just turned into echo chambers. Both are now just mostly bots from tge look of it. Maybe someone should just try actually providing a private and free platform and seeing what happens.

Telegram was the closest to it and the guy in charge got detained. Things not looking good if there's nowhere anyone can go to say something unpopular. Chinese are trying to escape from China only to find out everywhere else is turning to the same credit score system they have. In the US its called Google and microsoft

This isn't the place for free speech. It's just a way of making money.

Each country has it's own rules on what can be said.

If you can't learn to control what you say, move to a country with rules you can live with.

I find China to be quite free for me.

I'd probably be OK in Russia as well.

Most of SEA would give me no problems.

Europe and the UK, I'd probably be caught for thought crimes.

Not sure about the USA, it changes there a bit too quickly.

Thankfully AN provids a solution for your tactics.

In the US you can say anything you want to anyone as long as it isn't a threat.

Thank goodness AN is not a country...

You may think that, but it isn't reality.

I've seen it hundreds of times in rallies, against the police and many others. They can't do a thing unless it's perceived as a threat against them or someone in a high position.I see you're receiving the usual from the usual suspect. Deflections, assumptions and lies, along with the eventual insults, all coming from that low self esteem and fragile ego, in username #15

No, but I have many black friends and have seen them trash the police and all the cop could do was smile.

I worked a corporate job once and felt like complimenting my coworker for her successful boob job, it was well done. I waited until we were out the office to say it though. Can't be too careful

UK & EU, and I'd surely violate some speach rule. Obvious any muslim country and IL, would be off limits to me.

USA & TH work well for me, and agree, don't think CN or RU would be a problem either. MSM gets it wrong, more time the correct, about freedom in countries.

Yes, sexual harassment also falls into the same place as a threat, so one has to be careful.

Private platform....hahaha. There's no private platform. If I can post on it, then it's public. I'm free to post and they are free to remove it.

You need to get yourself a dictionary. By private platform it means privately owned and operated by a business or private party. That party has the right to make and enforce any rules it wants to and boot anyone off for any or no reason. You have no right to free speech.

Isn't that what I wrote? I am free to post and they are free to remove my post. I'm still practicing free speech.

Its interesting how so few liberals are sharing their thoughts in here. Yeah there is no free speech. You happy about that? True that. Completely forgot

You're not going to have any sort of useful discussion of this topic if you don't clarify exactly how you define free speech. How should "the internet" be handled? What, you mean like some set of rules for the entire internet all at once? Ridiculous. The internet is not one thing. Where do you mean? Who do you mean? Which forums? facebook? X? Reddit? Which media? There are tens of thousands thousands of individual forums and publications. Do you propose to regulate all of them? Demand your "right" to your free speech? Each one has its own guidelines. It doesn't matter what anyone in some forum thinks. It's up to whoever actually owns and operates a given forum or media outlet such as ASEANNOW, who as you all know has a very strict set of guidelines as to what is allowed and what is not. They are very clear about it and anyone who signs on here agrees by signing to abide by the rules.
