I'd rather see prions beds reserved for people who actually commit violent acts. Stoopid as it may be, a Nazi salute doesn't actually hurt anyone.

I think it was more than just a simple nazi salute. Other offensive acts are mentioned in the article and the police did see the need to taser the guy.

I probably agree with you that a prison bed isn’t the right place for him though, swift deportation so that Thailand doesn’t have to bother with his antics is more appropriate and seemingly right in line with the policy of the current government.

  • After all these years you would think Nazis would just end their wrong thinking, but evil is created at home, and there's no way of telling what this man's parents taught him, and their parents taught

  • And that's a good thing! There, I fixed it for you!

And they'll still be looked at as outcasts to the rest of the population. There will always be weirdos in the world, as they're created at home by other weirdos.

They are even now a vocal minority, even in Saxony-Anhalt.

Sadly though a lot of these people are not just weirdos. They're downright unpleasant. And in some cases downright dangerous. Especially the key figures just below the radar.

But most krauts (of which I am effectively and gratefully one) and the country's institutions have their eyes on the ball.

In a democracy you have to deal with stuff. Much of which you don't like or is even anathema to you. It's a test of how mature you are as to how fairly but firmly you deal with it.

Brighten up folks. It'll make you think a lot again about the things you hold dear and haven't thought about in decades - revise and even rejuvenate your old attitudes and beliefs for the better. Something that would put the AfD out of business instantly because they rely on the negative and people's dukkha.

Read John Stuart Mill's 'On Liberty'. It'll bolster your affinity for democracy and show some of the disenchanted exactly why NOT to vote for such unpleasant 'weirdos'.

This Dummkopf is lucky he wasn't doing his nazi acts in Australia.

In that country, performing a nazi salute in public is a federal and state crime, rightly punishable by at least 12 months mandatory prison time under federal anti-hate crime laws.

Seems the local RTP don't see racist nazis in the same light despite the PM on September 17th instructing governors across Thailand to act quickly against foreign nationals who break the law, exploit Thais or engage in undesirable behaviour.

This seems like extreme measures.

.....created by other weirdos....

Well, agreed, but who was the first weirdo with weirdo ideas then? And isn't it fascinating depressing watching people follow the evil?

The first parent who was mean, abusive and or neglective towards his family started it a long time ago, and those children repeated it to their children, and so on down the line.

He said one foreigner was Canadian and the other was German.

I wonder if they checked his passport, remember - Hitler himself wasn't German but spoke it.

It has been said before and I will say it again! Don't mention the War! I mentioned it once but I got away with it!

My experience is that Asian people don't really have any kind of immediate response to the words, Hitler, Nazi and associated ideas that Westerners do. They seem to vaguely know Hitler was a bad guy but don't have the same visceral reaction that we westerners have.

So I am not surprised that this guy's rant was met with a "meh" by the RTP.

But but but the German girlfriend I dumped because she was a cold fish in bed told me there's no Nazis in Germany. Weird, huh. 😄

Families and friends of six million dead Jews and five to 11 million dead non-Jews during the Holocaust would disagree with you.

Today it's not illegal in the U.S. or Thailand simply to give the Nazi salute. However, circumstances could subject the "saluter" to arrest if he is disturbing the peace, behaving in a disorderly manner or inciting violence.

Hurt feelings are not the same as violence.

Look up Skokie, Illinois. It's famous for one case. No matter how vehemently I disagree with them, I support their right to be idiots. Until they actually hurt or threaten someone.

Besides, would you rather have them flashing clandestine secret signals, or advertise their stupidity?
