Very utilitarian. But sometimes that's the measure you have to use and that was definitely one such situation.

The world was at war. Over 50 million dead already counted and still counting. It had to stop as soon as possible. That meant flattening the instigators into the ground until they surrendered unconditionally. That was the only way. The people who had endured so many years of blood, sweat, bereavement, hunger, misery and tears took the ugly but correct decisions that needed to be taken.

Just a thought: conditions on Trump/Hegseth's Lincoln carrier were the norm for sailors in WW2. And at least the Lincoln wasn't sunk with all hands on board. Think about that. For 7 long years. Every day.

It is cheap, lazy and cowardly to retrospectively judge those who had been attacked and had to live through the horror that was forced on them for the way they dealt with it.

We are fortunate to have lived cosseted and spoiled lives, free of hunger and war, with the best health care and diets in history (except the US working class) as a result of those who correctly demanded unconditional surrender and said, ''Never again!''.
