Dvd Writer - What To Look Out For ?

Featured Replies

I've just started this download thing and need to write some stuff to DVD before I run out of space. What should I look out for in a DVD writer ?

Any model suggestions in the lower price brackets.

Pioneer is your best choice IMO. Latest model is the DVR-112D which is 1,250THB in Panthip. Only one shop has them though, it's the place at the back on floor 3 that stocks the DVD duplicators.

Look around to find them, it's worth it.

Name of that shop is: STC Computech Co., Ltd., Room 325-6, Tel.: 02656 6127-8. The Owner, Khun Visan and him wife speaking english very well. This shop is specialized for everything with CD/DVD, Networking and Survilance Systems. The one with the best service at Pantip and the only one I trust 100%!!

Thanks for that but I am in Pattaya and want to take the PC in for a "service" as well.

Does anyone know if that model is available here ?

Also, what makes this one special and what is it that I should be looking out for if I cannot get that model ?

I second that. Pioneer makes some great burners.. i have a A02 Model and it's probably burned over 500 dvds and still works.

what about a 320gig USB external harddrive - I have given up on storing data on DVD's as you cannot be sure they will last.

Neither do hard drives ..... BTW I have a 500Gig ... it fills up faster than a bird can shake its tail.

I have this burner in my (older) computer. It's a good burner, but make sure you have the right IDE cable.

I couldn't get more than 4X out of it (any media).

As opposed to my SATA Asus 18X drive which burns at 16X without any problem.
