October 7, 200718 yr I am arriving in Bangkok on the 22nd of November evening and travelling from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat by plane in the morning on the 23rd on my way to Koh Phangan. Just wondering what is the best, economical and easiest way to get from Thammarat airport to Koh Phangan. Also can i buy tickets once Im there? thanks Faz
October 7, 200718 yr Why are you going through Nakhon? It looks closer, I know but it is not the easiest route. Easiest route is to fly to Surat and get the bus to the car ferry. From Nakhon, if you aren't driving yourself, you will have to find a bus to Don Sak and see if they will drop you off at the ferry pier.
October 7, 200718 yr Author I was initially going to take an o/nite train from Bangkok to Surat Thani (approx 1000 baht). But I found flights with Nok Air from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat for 990 baht. My thinking being I'l save 10 hrs in travel but i'll be required to travel an extra 50 kms to Don Sak. Just wanted to know if there are coaches etc available at regular time intervals and is there availability to book online etc...
October 7, 200718 yr That I do not know, I am afraid. But I can bet you will not be able to book online--AFAIK there is no online booking for buses here.
October 7, 200718 yr From Nakhon there are regular buses to Surat Thani town all day, and I am sure there is at least one bus a day to Don Sak. Sorry, no idea of the schedule, you could try posting in the Southern Forum as the Nakhon locals may have more details
October 7, 200718 yr I know there are regular minivans to Donsak from Nakhon though I haven't taken the trip. If you arrive in Nakhon in the morning you could find our way to the minibus station and get there same day. If not, spend a night in Nakhon, head down to "Rock 99"(the local farang watering hole) and have a chat with the locals. It would be a good idea to post your question in the Southern forum for more info.
