Just a quickie - we are off to Singapore next week to get our visas sorted - my wife and I currently use AIS prepaid 1 2 go sim cards in our phones - can we buy similar cards in Singapore so that we can use or phones while there ?

Yes, you can, Just go to any 7 eleven store

Ask for Starhub prepaid card, it cost about SG$17 each

Also remember to bring your passport with you cause you need to register your id upon purchase

Which means you should take care of this transaction prior to turning your passport over to the embassy.
