Areas To Live In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Can you please give more details on alternative areas to live in Bangkok besides those located by the BTS or Ratchada/MRT line? I dont work in Bangkok and I am wondering if I could double the size of my apartment if I weren't so Central.

Please give details on Places like Pinklo, Bangkapi, Thonburi, Banglamphu etc

generally the further away you go from the city centre the cheaper it is. If you don't work you can choose anywhere, having a car or at least motorbike will make you independent even from the other means of public transport.

still, it's worth to be reasonable close to some public transport when you don't want to drive or somebody is coming to visit you.

the right side of the river and up the river, in Nonthaburi, is generally cheaper - but unless you speak some thai will be more difficult to live untill you learn some. Would be as well more difficult to find an accommodation there as adverts are mostly in thai and menagement might not speak english

i speak thai at an intermediate level. lately bangkok feels more like I'm in a Western country than an Asian country. Perhaps that is just the lifestyle I lead, the places I go, etc. But it hardly feels like I live in Asia anymore with all these fluent english speakers around.

I live near Banglampu right on the river. I love living here now even though it’s a little further from the centre of town, I wouldn’t even consider living anywhere else unless I wanted to buy a house. Much more relaxed atmosphere around here compared to central areas and lots of nice little cafes and bars.

Lived in Ari for a while & it was OK. Quiet leafy soi's, good market stalls. Bit too quiet for my taste but decent & spacious 2 bedroom apartment with separate kitchen/ balconies/ cooker & furniture = 10,000 per month. Sky train access easy.

I live in the Rangsit area of bangkok. Is nice out here(26km from city). Though I'm only here for another month till the house is completed. I have been in Rangsit for 3 years, and love it. still alot of places close to shop and good late night eating. Rent is also cheap, I pay 6k a month for a 73m2 1 bedroom, 1 bath, livinroon, kitchen condo. Includes pool and secure parking.

Here you will not find to many English speakers that are fluent, sign language works, hahaha
