I have AIS and I cant get it to _not_ work even if I remove all settings...

Go to Settings->General->Network->EDGE

There you see APN name, username and password.

The only True settings I found online are here:

http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5172

From this, we can deduct that user/pass are probably orange/orange and APN name is either wap or if that doesn't work I would try gprs.

If that still doesn't work, call True customer support and tell them you need the GPRS settings APN name. They will usually send you a setup SMS but I doubt they have one that works on the iPhone so they will just have to tell you the settings over the phone.

If that still doesn't work you could try AIS, that works just fine :o

I don't know if the iPhone loads contacts from the SIM card - I am on a Mac and it just synced my entire address book via iTunes and because I had previously synced that with my symbian phones it was just all there.

No contacts on SIM card are not compatible...pain in the a**.

That is true of the Nokia N series as well.

If you want to transfer contacts you must back them up and

reload on the new phone. I use the 128Mb card that came with my N70

for backup and then use the 1Gb card for normal use.

Got this from a website:

Operator: - AIS

GPRS APN: - internet

Username: - {blank}

Password: - {blank}

DNS: - 202.183.255.20, 202.183.255.21

The DTAC settings they provided worked for me (also blank username and password)

Good luck

As a rule of thumb: Always have your contacts backed up.

Easiest though: Get a Mac.

Syncing with all kinds of devices works like a breeze.

If you're on iTunes a lot, don't even think twice to switch.

Makes life much easier.

Especially with your iPhone.

True for those phones that are supported by OS X - most are, but some are not. My Nokias all synced fine with the Mac. And comparing the syncing experience between the Windows - via Nokia PC Suite - and Mac via iSync is a no-brainer. Mostly because PC Suite is just horrible software whereas iSync just works.

And of course the iPhone integration under OS X is incredible. Things just fly back and forth between these two devices. Not only is it implemented very well, the level of integration is also probably impossible on Windows even with the best of efforts. That's because Apple owns iTunes, iPhoto, iSync, Safari, the Mac, and the iPhone. Bookmarks sync automatically, contacts sync, music syncs, photos sync - pretty amazing.

The only downside is that there is no wireless syncing. I can understand that USB is way better than Bluetooth though - it seems about 100 times as fast. My contacts sync in less than a second, whereas over Bluetooth (with the Nokia phones) this was always a long-ish process measured in minutes rather than seconds. Forget about syncing music or photos.
