Just came back from holiday, plugged in my Asus laptop and the pointer wanders around if i dont control it, if i try to scroll a page it just jumps back to the top,ive tried the touchpad and its the same, but about an hour later all seems ok, the battery is full and mains conected, also if i want to view items in my documents, it always picks the one at the top of the pile, regardless of what i click,

TIA for any hints and help, Lickey.

That could results from several reasons!

If you use the Tuchpad, disable the Touchpad in the Bios and try to use a mouse best a standard Mouse with Ball and not an optical mouse. If this works, check with optical mouse too. If both works may the cleaning of the Touchpad with Alcohol works but that isn't sure!

If you use a optical Mouse, change the Mouse to standard Ball Mouse and check again!

Mainly this comes from a kind of dirty, maybe a film or from moisture on the Touchpad or even on the Lens from an optical Mouse.

Yep ^^^

My money is on a dirty touch pad. Alcohol on a tissue will clean it and restore normal operation :o

I bet nobody can guess what the problem was!!! I took laptop to shop and they had to put new hard drive in, also the mouse was u/s, apparanlty, laptop was full of those little black ants, as was mouse, so next time i go on holiday, i will take it with me or put in a bag and hang from tree,

on-line virus or in-home virus, be carefull, Lickey..
