November 12, 200718 yr Hello! We are from UK living here for a year. We've decided to get pregnant in Feb and fly home after the 22 week scan (it's safe to fly in the middle of your pregnancy). Does anyone know how much the prenatal scans cost here? Have looked on the net and can't find anything. Just need to know approx cost to make sure we can afford to do that. Any advice greatly appreciated. Muffins X
November 12, 200718 yr Everything included the 12th week scan cost us around 5000 THB at Samitivej Sukhumvit : that's the cost of the normal gynecologist, of the specialist doing the scan and of the scan. A normal gynecologist appointment (without scan) cost between 2 and 3000 THB.
November 12, 200718 yr Blimey! 2000 - 3000 baht just for the rountine monthly appointment to see the gynecologist - wow! I think I prefer to live in Surin where the routine visit to a first-class gynecologist runs at less than 500 baht per visit.

November 12, 200718 yr Author Hi. Thanks for this advice, it's really interesting and really helpful. Seems to be a huge difference depending on where you live. We are living in Chalong/Phuket so if anyone knows costs for here then that would be great. Also, when the "deed is done", do I just go to the doctor and let him sort out the scans/dates etc the way you would in UK or do I have to sort it out myself? All advice most welcome. Muffins.
November 12, 200718 yr From what I read here, private hospitals in Phuket are on the expensive side, maybe someone living there can tell you more about this. Basically in private hospitals it'll be blood check, then when you are pregnant you go back and they give you a set of appointments (one every month approximately).
November 13, 200718 yr It all depends where you live. I live in Buriram Province and my wife's due in 2 weeks. She pays 200 Baht for a scan, 300 Baht if prescribed calcium and iron tablets as well. Anyone who thinks you have to stay in the big city to get good natal treatment is crazy. My wifes using the local government hospital as thousands of other women have done before her. Money doesn't necessary buy you better treatment.
