Got A 60 Day Extension On My 60 Day Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

I am in country staying with my Thai wife on an extended holliday. So I got a 60 day tourist visa, which I planned to extend for another 30 days. And today it was time to do just that.

But the immigration officer adviced me that I could apply for a 60 day extension, since I am married to a Thai. The required documents where:

Her Tabien Ban (house registration book)

Her ID Card

Our marriage certificate

1 pass port photo of me

My pass port

Copies of the above

The usual 1900 baht fee applied. Thought this may be usefull info for those in the same situation, and it saves a visa run too :-)

Okay, thanks for that bit Torenova. This is the first time I am here on a tourist Visa, and have never extended one before, so I would probably have tried to apply for same next time I need to extend one of those. Well, ok...still usefull for those in same situation as me :-)

Without the marriage bit, you'd get 30 days on the back of a tourist visa (usually but not guaranteed) but perhaps only 7 on a non immigrant visa or 30 day entry stamp.

Yeah 30 days extension was what I was gunning for, so 60 days was a nice christmas pressent. means I can postpone my first ever visa run until first half of January (if I am still in the country then...)
