Reactivate Ais Sim?

Featured Replies

i've been out of the country for 8 months and just learned my thai sim wasn't 'registered'. i need to reactivate the prepaid number as i use it for a business - does anyone have any experience reactivating what may be an expired number and explain registration? it worked fine the last 2 years and i'm not even sure if it was ever 'registered'...

thanks.

It is nothing to do with not being registered and all to do with you not topping up or using it for 8 months. I tried to get my old number re activated and could not. All you can do is get another number and let your clients know.

As of I know the max is 3 month of prepaid Sim Cards, after the amount on card expires or the card is below THB 50!

I have a new sim that allows you to put fifty baht on it and it lasts twelve months. I think its a DTAC sim... but for me its great... I never make any calls but I need to be able to receive them. Not the best price per minute but for me it doesnt matter... I think I use fifty baht a month ..

hmmm what I guess I am saying is I have no life... :o

The process was that for about 3 months the expired number was held {after expiry date} and could be reactivated, then it was moved to pending for about 3 months and then it was recycled back into the pool of numbers available. I presume you've tried calling it? If someone answers maybe you can buy it back, alternatively if it tells you the number is not 'registered' it simply means the number is not active in the system, and therefore you may be able to persuade the service provider to reissue it but if it's been issued as a new sim that may be difficult since I don't know if there a detailed record of retailers purchasing number sets. Alternatively, after 8 months, you could just get a new number and this time keep a note of the expiry date. These days AIS has a maximum of 1 year, though they used to go to 2. They killed that when they introduced a set of promotions.

Regards
