meemiathai
I am OK with people having this ultimate choice. But jumping is rude, you could kill other people or traumatize children and Canadians, and you make the Thai government officials spend money to clean up the mess that could have been better used buying viagra to buy votes.I know I am a shameless liberal but I would like to see a legal, legitimate medical way for people to be able to do this in a clean, safe (to others) and painless way. Jumping is not a painless way. jumping is relatively painless. landing isn't. I doubt it. Have you tried?
Sunderland
Forgive my stupidity, but why don't they make the pavements and roads more bouncy so these people who enjoy jumping off buildings will bounce straight back to where they came from? TAWP
64th floor.... eeeessshhhh... Surely the 64th floor gives them too much time to think about changing their minds! Why not make it 10 floors. Condonlences to loved one that hurt more than the jerk who jumped! 10 floors you might possibly survive and you wouldn't want to after that. I have read that is very common to NOT die instantly from jumps, not a nice way to go. Indeed. Especially since people have a tendency to try to land feet first... And yes, you can find videos of jumpers online on some of the video-sites if you wanna verify that people survive long enough to have this way of going NOT be labeled 'clean and painless'. :/
maipleur
Well what a way to go... 64 floors means at least 7 seconds of "what have I done" time before hitting the ground. 2 am probably drunk? poor bugger, I wonder if he would have done it if he slept on it? Then again did he jump. RIP!

ThaiAdventure
Lots of Japs come to thailand to commit suicide. even a friend of mine that works at the Vertigo Bar @ Banyan Tree hotel rooftop.. a japanese guy jumped off while she was on her shift.Japan used to have the worlds highest suicide rates. Maybe that's why Finland is holding the first place right now, if I'm not mistaken. We don't have any tall buildings though. I'd commit suicide too, if I lived in Finland
torrenova
I live in Pattaya and we do get a lot of jumpers. Some are suspiciously assisted deaths whilst some are dead before they fall (no blood when they hit the deck as the heart stopped long ago). I think some think they will die but then don't and they end up with horrendous injuries. I'm not sure why they do it but I can understand the despair some people find themselves in. There must be easier ways out though rather than jumping.

MrSquigle
Developers should build in a mosaic target in the carparks or entry section. Nobody would know what it was, only visible from height. Competitions and betting could take place every saturday night.

wrecker
It is not that obvious that it was suicide. Suicides are only surely suicides when the jumper was found with his or hers hands handcuffed behind the back and a plastic bag strapped over the head. In all other cases murder might be suspected. cigar7
I think many of the reported suicides are not actual suicides. How thoroughly are these jumping incidents investigated? I'm thinking at least one third of all farang reported suicides have at least one other person involved. What are the statistics on Thai versus farang suicides in Thai cities? JR Texas
A lot of speculation, but does anybody know who this person was? Where was he from? Any other details about his life? There is nothing funny about suicide. But I know that many of us feel uncomfortable with the topic and that makes us laugh (sort of human nature). There are at least four things that could have happened, among them: 1) mentally disturbed, 2) murdered (pushed), 3) extremely depressed, 4) terminally ill (avoiding pain). This sort of thing is happening way too much.........

Obviously knew nothing about fundamental physics (acceleration of gravity = 10 m/s)..unless he counted on surviving the impact at terminal velocity and being assured of sinking
