Australian Aged Pension
The previous Liberal government proposed them, and the current Labor government DID NOT bin them. https://www.afr.com/policy/tax-and-super/assistant-treasurer-flags-new-tax-residency-rules-20220826-p5bd1v "Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones told an Australian Chamber of Commerce event in Singapore this week the new rules for deciding Australian tax residency were in “the government’s in-tray” ahead of the October budget, and the day limit was “being looked at." It appears it's not if, just when, and the who doesn't really matter. I don't know how much longer, but in my opinion the proposed changes have just gone away. The current laws are 90 years old and are no longer fit for purpose. Geez, Thailand even has the 180 day law, with many other countries having a similar tax residency model, but you seem to think Australia will never bring in a 183 day law. It's laughable. -

Almost Refused Entry at Chiang Mai Airport -Be Warned! - 2nd Visa Exemption
I think that is an extremely valid point... and yes, I overlooked that aspect. That said: My last renewal took 30mins max (at Chaeng Wattana) at the Immigration office, but still involved travelling to and from etc... but for many travelling there and from is also an annoyance... I do believe that if someone is Married, on Retirement etc... then a 1 year visa is just silly, why not offer a 10 year visa for retirees ?? - I don't see any real reason not to. Also, allow for a Doctors / Hosptial letter so that someone can go in their place and obtain an renewal. I think hospitals actually offer this in serious cases, but its usually for a medical extension, rather than a full / renewal of an extension. -

Report DepEd Reassigns Principal After Controversial Graduation Incident in Antique
File photo for reference only In response to a contentious incident during a graduation ceremony in Antique, the Department of Education (DepEd) has confirmed the reassignment of a principal following her removal from her school position. The decision comes amidst widespread public scrutiny over the event. The principal of Col. Ruperto Abellon National School in Laua-an was involved in an incident on April 15 that captured national attention when a video showing her ordering students to remove their togas due to an alleged dress code violation went viral. What should have been a celebratory occasion was overshadowed by the controversy, leading to community outrage and questions about the principal's judgment. DepEd clarified that there is no prohibition against wearing togas, which spurred immediate action. In line with President Marcos's directive, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara swiftly responded by relieving the principal of her duties and temporarily reassigning her to the Schools Division Office (SDO) while a thorough investigation is conducted. The department stressed the importance of due process, ensuring the investigation adheres to fairness and integrity standards. "DepEd’s investigation is ongoing to resolve the complaint against the principal," stated a spokesperson. To maintain seamless school operations in the interim, the Assistant Regional Director of DepEd Region 6 has taken over as officer-in-charge. Additionally, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has approved the reassignment, confirming it will not disrupt any ongoing election-related activities in the region. DepEd remains committed to addressing the situation transparently, with an ongoing investigation aimed at resolving the issue. The prompt response highlights the government's dedication to addressing public concerns and maintaining education standards across the country. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Manila Bulletin 2025-05-02 -
