I picked up a flyer yesterday for TT&T's Max-Net service in Pattaya. I just need personal package and these seem to be called "Indy" packages. They have 3 speeds available for a single ported modem: 1024 Kbps, 1536, and 2048. All upload speeds are 512 Kbps. I know these speeds are "thearetifcal" or best case speeds. The cost for the differenct speeds is B590, B790, and B1000 respectively. The installation charge is B1900 (I could not make out if this includes the modem but I think it does.)

Is this a decent price to pay for these speeds?

Does anyone here have TT&T's service along soi Nernplubwan in Pattaya and how is the service?

I now in the process of searching a good IT provider, thanks for information about Maxnet, btw can you give their web site address?

Last week I visited TukCom and also Hutch office (located at the left from TukCom if you are facing it from Soi Buakhaw)

Hutch sell CDMA2000 1X access, and I believe the speed is limited by 153Kbps

TukCom offer Solomon USB modems at 3 and 5 floors, the guys at 3 floor provide connection via Edge provider (seems like the name of technology as well) and guys at 5 floor provide connection via AIS provider

all three of em - Hutch, Edge and AIS provide unlimited access to 999 per month

Looks like Hutch offered less expensive hardware but speed is also slower (not sure about Sierra aircard, I compared USB modems)

Edge and AIS with Solomon's modem promise the speed "up to" 460Kbps

kinda hard to tell as if there is any options, as flyers are in Thai language and sellspersons ain't really helpful - when I asked what is the difference between usb modems from huawei and solomon one guy told me that difference in accepted protocols and other guy told me that difference in distance of signal transmission ;-)

so after all looks like Maxnet may be a best option, of course if they provide same coverage (mentioned providers suppose to provide service everywhere in Thailand)

I use TT&T's Maxnet 2048KBPS for 1,000 baht a month.. I live on Soi Arunothai.. The speed is OK and usually quite fast, but the internet itself is not very reliable and often drops. Today for example, I haven't been able to use it all day. I have 2 internet connections (Loxinfo IPStar) and Maxnet.. I am satisfied with Maxnet speed, but it is really unreliable if you need to be online all the time.

falkenbach; you seem to be confused between 3G services for your mobilephone (ais) and a fixed dsl line. (maxnet, true, buddy e.g.)

I have Maxnet ( Royal Park village ) speeds are generally better than I pay for .

The Maxnet office is on Thepprasit Road Road about 100 metres from Thappraya Road

on the right .

Very good to deal with , very helpful .

My connection is very stable but I use a Cisco router , even a good Netgear or Linksys

will give a vast improvement over the routers they supply .

I have TT&T Maxnet, and I live off of Siam Country Club. In Thailand internet largely depends on where you live. I pay 790 a month plus tax and 100 Baht for the line. My speed is usually 1273KPS Download and 573 Upload. I am very satisfied with the service and price. The 1900 Baht includes a single port router and a very good telephone.

Hi falkenbach,

I currently have a Sierra Wireless Card (CDMA2000 1X acess) thru Hutch here in Pattaya. I average between 750 and 800 Kbps. Right now it's 783.

The Maxnet Indy package works relatively well for website access and email...

BUT be aware that they operate bandwidth shaping/throttling on the higher ports which means that they are effectively blocking FTP and some file sharing

Users of anything like this are then forced to upgrade to the more expensive Premier package

I was on Maxnet 1 mb for some time with no problems but as soon as they upped the speed and dropped the price my download speed took a dive, I upgraded to Premier 1 mb and am very pleased with it.
