Lived in Thailand longer than any other place in my life!
I came here in 2006, have lived in Pattaya/Jomtien, Bang Bon, Kanchanaburi, Roi Et, Sa Kaeo, and am currently doing a stint in Chanthaburi. When that is done, I'll settle in Jomtien/Bang Saray. I was just chatting with my son who told me he's paying $1400 USD/month for a small room in a bad neighborhood with a shared kitchen/bathroom and he considers himself LUCKY to have landed such a deal. No way in hell would I ever return to a place with those prices in a country on the verge of civil war. I'm living the life of Riley here. I lack for nothing, have great health for my age, and only work part time because I want to do something I enjoy that keeps me out of the doldrums of old age boredom. I've done extensive traveling and seen enough of this earth to know I could never have this quality of life at this price anywhere else. I came for the scuba, stayed for the soapies! Yay Thailand and yay ThaiVisa! -

Alert! Bangkok Bank new rule money seasoning
Went to get my certified bank papers today for non-O visa extension for bank balance and was broadsided by a new rule at Bangkok Bank (account there since 2004). Bangkok bank is now requiring that you leave 400,000 baht in the bank 4 months from the date you come in the get the certified balance letter if you did not have at least 400,000 baht in your account 4 months prior to coming in for the letter. Not 4 months from the date the account had 400,000 then going forward, 4 months from today for me. Account was funded with 600k in early May but they won't count from that date for the 4 months (big argument with top bank gal ovver this). This is not an immigration requirement, new bank policy. Looking to open account at different bank now. -

Grand Jury Convened
Correct again. And it may look at the evidence and bust out laughing. I've said I don't expect any big names to be jailed. I don't really think the GJ is aimed at jailing people - I think it's aimed at "rogue" elements of the Intelligence communities. And I don't expect any of them to be jailed either. I think it's a shot across the bow of the Intelligence services saying "you are not beyond reach." -

Middle East Netanyahu Pushes for Military Action to Free Hostages
Hamas used human shields to justify their barbaric cause. Go for it Bibi! End their negotiating terrorist cause. Hamas has stalled long enough and God know they've been given chances to end it peacefully. -

USA Nagasaki bomber ‘miss’ on purpose to save lives?
What utter BS! Even Wikipedia states 70,000 civilian deaths. When I worked in Nagasaki's Atomic Bomb Hospital in 1968, the place was full of radiation victims 23 years later. Most of them are dead now. I dated a girl who had keloid scars on her neck. She was in her pram. These fliers and those who gave the orders were nothing short of mass murderers. -

What's the point talking to anyone with less than a GENIUS IQ?
Exactly, the common interest and sort of same manners and language. being with people using offensive language, and in general rude to other people usually put me off and makes me uncomfortable. Especially socializing going out, and they start being abusive for any reasons.
