Very dramatic Alex, might have been good in B&W tho, given the lack of rich colors in the photo. But still, a very dramatic photo.

Good photograph Alex.

The exposure is spot on.

Only observation would be that maybe next time you might show a tad more foreground as this would then fit the "rule of thirds" and give a better balance.

Thank you so much for your kind replies.

Rules of third I will have to look up on the net.

I have a D400 but normally use it just for my work to make pictures of situations that are wrong (in a factory or something).

This thread made me think and I now start to look at different things that might be interesting.

Anyway I have lot's of things to learn and I am verry happy with this subforum and comments/advice that is being given.

Thanks all!

Now that is what the journey to the pearly gates will look like.

Anyone got the other direction....just to familiarise myself.

Why?? Are you planning on coming back.. :o

For the OP.

I think the thirds rule is obeyed,

if you consider the first break in the sky where the rays first emanate from....

A stunning shot.

Did you wait for the moment, or just take what you saw?

Well I was just peaking outside and was sort of amazed from what I was seeing and decided to make a shot.

My first shot at the sky actually, guess I was lucky.
