Work Experience

Central , United Kingdom, Weston Super Mare, Somerset

September 2007 - Present

Fleet / Operations Manager

My duties include companding the companies resources 'out in the field', we employ over 2500 employees, in which a total of 100 work as 'mobile cleaners' across 50 vehicles. This will involve arranging which stores need to be cleaned and when, giving directions to the mobile teams and arranging which mobile team would be most suited to do the job. As well as this, my job is also to keep all the machines across the stores (which there are over 1,200 of) working, if a machine breaks down it is my responcibility to find out the problem and get a local engineer out to fix it, the same situation is apparent with the company vehicles, if one breaks down I must get it repaired, so have a very good knowledge of vehicles, servicing and dealing with insurence companies. I also deal with any disiplineries that result from mobile cleaners activities, i.e. crashing a vehicle, speeding, etc and also hiring new staff for the company.

Phonetek-Nation , United Kingdom, Weston Super Mare, Somerset

July 2006 - September 2007

Store Manager

My duties include creating the weekly staff rota and managing the stores members of staff during that week. Obviously dealing with their recruitment, training and general development as employees for the company as well as making sure they are motivated to meet targets and happy with their working enviroment. I had full key holder responcibilities and must open and close the store daily, this includes a full store start up and a full store close down, which includes cashing up the tills, setting floats and banking. My stock related duties include controlling the level of stock to make sure we have enough stock to cover customer demand, and speaking with suppliers when we are in need of ordering more. As well as my managment responcibilities I helped with the general customer service and sales section of the company, selling products / contracts and often dealt with calling customers in regards to any misplaced / delayed orders.

Anglian Home Improvements , United Kingdom, Weston Super Mare, Somerset

May 2005 - March 2006

Telesales Supervisor

Anglian Home Improvements was a busy double glazing company. The call centre that I worked at had around 15 members of staff whose job it was to phone potential customers (members of the public) using a standard phone book and gain 'leads', which would be a person agreeing to have a quote on their property for either double glazing, a front door, a conservatory, or any of the other products they offered. When I started this was my position in the company, but over the year I was promoted to supervisor. I still called customers, but also helped train new starters (the staff turnover was quite high), offer advice, help other staff, help set realistic call targets and generally watch over staff and make sure they were working to the best of their ability, speaking to those who were not or were having trouble gaining the expected lead count. My highest achievement in the position was gaining a 'top 30' position in the company for leads, which in reward was rewarded by meal with the owner of the company and all of the regional bosses with the other 29 top callers. Speaking to people who owned a company as large as Anglian was very rewarding and gaining advice from regional managers that had obviously worked hard to make it to the high paying positions they were in was fantastic. Unfortunately the Weston Super Mare office was closed down in March 2006. Anglian moved their Weston office to Bristol in order to save money, I was offered my job at the new location, but would have struggled to make the journey everyday and was due to start college in June, so needed a job closer to Weston. During my time at Anglian I gained a lot of experience maintaining a team, working towards demanding targets and selling / offering support to customers. The job was often very competitive and the targets were hard to achieve, with people achieving less than an average 2 leads over a three hour session being let go, so you were continually working hard to meet those targets.

Comet PLC , United Kingdom, Clevedon, Somerset

June 2004 - May 2005

Customer Resource Management

Comet Customer Support is a call centre based in Clevedon, they deal with thousands of calls a day from public customers, business customers and from their many branches around the country. The customer support department was where I originally started; they were expected to take between 60 and 100 calls a day per person, with around 60 people on the department at one time. A lot of calls would simply be customers phoning to say "when will my delivery be here?", which was easy enough to check. Other examples would be booking repairs, collecting faulty products or generally asking questions about Comets range of products and services. In the 'Customer Resource Management' team there was 15 employees, this position was usually dealing with problems that the Customer Support Department employees could not deal with (either had not been trained or were struggling with). This would include phoning drivers or customers when a delivery had to be cancelled to re-arranging a delivery date, dealing with angered customers and calming them down by offering a solution to their problems or compensation, and speaking directly to stores. Working at comet gave me experience of a busy office environment and working in a large team, I was eventually offered a job closer to home and for ma higher salary at Anglian in May 2005.

<h2 style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Skills </h2>

§ Customer Interaction - I have worked in various positions where I have had to interact with customers, these have been face to face, over the phone or in writing / email.

§ People Skills - I have always been a good people person; I feel very comfortable working with people and enjoy the team aspect of a job. I believe I am very easy to talk to and have a good ability to motivate people and help them to attain goals.

§ Computer Related Skills - I have used computers pretty much since I began school and from the age of 13/14 was always on the Internet at home. I have a good knowledge of office applications, having used them at work and in university to create headed letters, manage accounts, create reports, and use databases to keep track of sales, orders and customers. I also taught myself graphic design; I have designed numerous websites including Icon (a Weston Super Mare recruitment company) and DummyPhones.co.uk as well as many others.

§ Administration Skills - I have a good attention to detail and am very driven to work towards a particular aim or goal set to me. I can manage myself and always try to keep busy with tasks that I know need doing. I see myself as being very organised and when it comes to typing or inputting information to a computer I make very few mistakes because of this. I have a good knowledge of computers picked up from my academic studies and this helps my ability to type and use a computer system, but also learn and use new systems quickly.

§ Ambitious, Dedicated and Enthusiastic - I enjoy work and being fundamental to a companies success is something I have always wanted to do. Business is a subject I have always been interested in, I studied it at school, college and university and would read biographies by Richard Branson, Alan Sugar, Donald Trump, etc at home for personal interest. I am very self driven, I don't need to be told to do something, if I don't have a target or goal, I will make my own and if I do have one I will do the best of my ability to do them. I think of myself as being a very dedicated person to the company I work for, if I need to put in extra hours to help my team or complete an important task I am more than prepared to do so.

§ Academic Skills - I have studied Business Studies and Computers in university and consider myself to have done well in both, I am currently studying for a degree in Business Studies, but wish to use the skills I have learnt to date to gain experience of industry.
