12 singles rounds left, Europe need just 3 of those for victory

I wouldnt rule the the Yanks out just yet, but it would have to be a fairytale comeback now

Well done Europe!

Europe is clearly outplaying the US Team.

They are just golfing the ball better, period.

IMHO there is no chance for a comeback.

When Ben Crenshaw was captain a few years

ago, the US did make an incredible comeback.

Crenshaw at the news conference the day before

the last day said ...." I have a good feeling about

all this, a good feeling ...."

At that point the US was something like 4 or 5

points down.

I just do not think this will happen tomorrow.

The cup will reside on the East side of the Atlantic

for another few years.

But I hope I am wrong.

It happened 4 years ago..

The US trailed Europe 10 to 6 going into the final day at Brookline and came back to win..

Just checking now i see Woods and Mickelson are going out 1 and 2. If they get the US of to a flyer the nerves will start in the European team for sure!

Your right though, Europe is playing far superior golf to the Yanks.

Garcia stands out for me..

Yeah!

Now, just as the Americans thought it would be good to go from GB & Ireland to the whole of Europe so as to increase the competitivness of the Ryder Cup some years ago is it now.....

Time for the Yanks to invite Canada (Mike Weir) Argentina and T&T, each of which has some pretty decent players :D

4 of the last 5 have been victory's for Europe, the last a remarkably easy one! :D

Just a thought :o

A quick Q?

If Europe were to win the first 3 matches today, do the rest carry on or do they stop as it has no meaning?

There is an interesting article on yahoo about this issue. an interview with the head of the US PGA insisting that everyone plays until the end. i found it a good read for golf.

apparently in this years Solheim Cup (ladies version of the Ryder Cup) the USA got blown away early and everybody just walked off the course conceding matches left right and centre.

Money is also a factor now in addition to pride. what would NBC do with all that airtime they just bought for gazillions. how about the corporate event side "Sorry guys you will have to go home now but they will be no refund" and last but not least - gambling .

As in the UK for instance it is possible to bet on anything such as the final overall score, on which hole was victoy obtained etc etc. apparently a couple of Ryder Cups back when Seve was the euro captain and Europe won if I am correct matches were conceded. Laura Davies had a large bet on the overall score which was lost through no fault of the golf.

So all in all i think that you will find matches will always be played out now and not in order to rub salt in the wounds.

My final point on the cup itself. Europe play as a team the USA does not imo. You have the sense that they want to play together and enjoy it. watching Tioger and Phil play on the first day yopu felt that they were awaiting a visit to the dentist . The Ryder cup is a team game.
