Finding A Thai Girl For A Serious Relationship

Didn't know if this would be the correct forum to post but here goes. I have a vacation planned in Thailand (Bangkok and its surrounding areas) for 3 weeks in May. I'm in my early 30's, single, no kids, no previous marriages, and looking to meet a Thai girl (not for prostitution purposes) potentially when I'm there. I've always been attracted to Asian girls (this coming from an American caucasion) and have really admired those who are from Thailand. Not that I want to jump into a marriage...but I'd like to meet a native Thai girl who is interested in a long term monogomous relationship that could potentially lead to marriage. My question is this: are there any reputable internet dating sites that can jump start a relationship for me and not rip me off? I'm not looking for the classic "mail order" bride either. Just a web resource, like Match.com, that can connect Americans with Thai people for an actual relationship. So that when I arrive in May, I could have at least some friendships established. Why waste your money with agencies. Walk into a bar, if you see something that you like, try it. If you like it marry it - it is that simple. In three weeks you could marry and get a visa to take her home with you. No problem. If it does not work out, divorce in Thailand is very cheap and there is no continual support arrangements. So why worry - just find someone you like and marry them, my friend did this and he is now very happy! Being all cautious will not improve your chance of happiness, so why pay an agency?

Yes, All the know-it-alls out there, but really most of their relationships end up finishing far earlier then they planned. I did this, found a girl I liked, and have been with her ever since - easy. People get silly out here and start thinking that all the girls are bad, when really most men are looking for far too much. When they find someone they are never really happy for they do not know what they want.

I met my gf on a international dating site called Meetic. I only chose to write to professional women with university degrees. We chatted every day for about three months and then I came to see her in Thailand. We have been together now for nearly three years.

Its important though to think it all through. If you do meet that special person then either you will have to come and live in Thailand or she will have to come and live with you. Either one is likely to be problematic and involve issues with employment, visas, work permits, culture shock, missing friends and family, language, climate, etc.

Based on her conversations with family & friends when we visit the farm, there does however appear to be a lot of girls in Isaan interested in Farang husbands

If youre into vapid conversation and someone whose sense of humor is in line with three stooges slapstick hour then go after a Thai girl because that's what you'll get... endless boredom. Don't expect any intellectual capacity because they are all incapable of this even the ones that are well educated and even the ones who have been educated outside of Thailand. Little logic and an obsession with beauty and appearance is what you'll get in a Thai girl. If you're into Asians, move to California and find one that's been born and raised there so you can be compatible.

I recommend Meetic as well. I met my girl on there. We chatted and talked on the phone for a year though before I went there. She is university educated and has a good job.

By the way, if you are American and at some point you decide she is the right one (if you find her), a K1 visa takes about a year from submittal of your petition to approval after interview at embassy.

I am sure if your motives are pure you could easily meet a Thai lady at a university or in a non touristy place. Once you have met your relationship can develop over the internet and by phone.

IMO there is something just not right about this idea of going on holiday for 3 weeks to find a wife, if i set myself a 3 week timetable to find a decent wife anywhere on the planet im sure id fail, and ive a good heart and am a hansum man.

The first girl i met in LOS was English and happenned to live 2 miles from where i was living at the time, tourist chicks are always an easy target.

If your 30s and dont have much luck with the ladies back home going to LOS is a good time to have some fun and play the field.

Well, he did mention a serious relationship, didn't he? I think it's a bad idea anyway. Go and have some fun, enjoy yourself without too much searching. Your odds of finding a serious relationship with a good girl are close to zero given your time frame, but at least you will get the feel of the culture and the scene.

You should consider the Philippines also. English speaking, Christian nation if that matters to you. White men are very welcomed there, not only for financial reasons but culturally light skin is considered a desirable trait. You will find many women everywhere you go there who are very interested in you. I don't think the Philippines is the best choice for fulltime living, but if there's an easier place for an older white man to find a younger wife, especially one who speaks English and will treat him well, someone please tell me!

I would avoid the online scene if your looking for a NON WORKING GIRL. When I came up from the states I found out the girls in Pattaya are very skilled at hooking up with your atm action. The classic is Hi darling or darkling( means sucker in Thai language- not literally but in reality).

If you want to find some decent company(non working variety) try going to normal places to look for taking a girl out for dinner a drink or coffee.It does not have to be the usual $30.00 a plate meal, The girls are Thai & are used to tasty inexpensive Thai food & breaking out the big bucks will only entice The atm big eye types(maybe not always) The good girls can be found :working at a mall- an optometrist shop flower shop cart vendor Beautician book store, many regular type businesses.. Any of the other places OTHER THAN THE BARS OR GO_GO'S It doesn't take much time to meet someone eager to join you for a nite out or breakfast or company. In fact the toughest part I found is being selective on who you pick to cruise with as most want to have some fun & company.

It is easier if you find a gal that has some English speaking skills.

Yea, those 'Real Life' girls like hotel and hospital workers don't use the internet or dating sites.

Of all the relationships I know of the longest lasting have been those originating on the internet. Been with my lovely wife for 3 years and we have a 2 month old daughter. One of my best friends has been with his wife for 6 years; they even lived in the US for awhile before coming back to Thailand.

3 months is enough; but if you read the OP he's only here for 3 weeks.

You are kidding right?....bout the part if you like it marry it. as you lose the farm cause you jumped in to quick & put all your assets basically in her name. I have been living with my gal for about 4 years& cant see to much difference (except a lot of paperwork if it doesn't work down the road) Still the same nightmare to get a divorce here.

In the U.S. you would go Post toasty if you nonchalantly got married for the hel_l of it. It might work, but I doubt in a poll you would find that answer to be the most likely chosen! To each his own.

This is great advice. Whatever your strategy is to meet someone for a serious relationship you'll be better off to do that with a clear rational head. Take care of other needs other ways.
