If you press the red button on the left of the green button (the bottom coored buttons, you get to choose between Thai and English for those channels that broadcast in both languages.

However you can set the default language to English by:

1. Press "menu" to open the set up menu

2. Choose "System settings"

3 From the system settings menu, choose "Language settings"

Set 1st Audio Language to English

Set 2nd Audio Language to Thai

Now every channel with start with English if that is offered by the channel. And your Thai friends can change to Thai if they want by using the method I first described

OK well I must have an old remote then, the menu has none of those settings at all, and my buttons are red and grey, red is Menu, Arrow, Select and thats all. I inherited the system from previous tenant so maybe need to upgrade it, I will check with UBC, thanks for infp

There are three systems used the TrueVisions. For analog CATV you must have a TV capable of German Stereo reception and you change the audio with your TV remote control. Believe the digital CATV and DTH systems offer the choice from control box/remote as described above.

And, with UBC DS-TV, setting a preference of "1. English 2. Thai" will cause confusion for programs broadcast in other languages... usually, but not always, it seems that they just put the other non-Thai audio as if it were English, so you will get Japanese, Korean, French, etc. but it is not always 100% consistent about it. The funniest thing we've seen is a program broadcast with two noticeably different Thai soundtracks/dubs.

I don't know enough about the DS-TV standard or its limitations, but it seems like pretty poor use of MPEG streams to not properly label the alternate audio tracks.

So far, no one has told you exactly what to do, to fix this problem. I had this problem this week as well, and here is how I fixed it.

(not sure if true sent some signal out that reset my box or what, but the script for KNOW channels just changed from English to Thai, last week.

Hit the Menu button on your remote.

Select #2 - Languages

Go down to the 3rd option - Event Language

Change it from Thai back to English.

Everything should be back to normal.

Peace

There is no language setting on the Scientific Atlanta units I have - which look the same as keycon post. Language is controlled by the TV set itself (if it has German Stereo ability). This is an analog system.

I have reviewed the options with UBC, seems like I do not have the digital system and inherited the analogue, cost is 1600 mBaht/month to landlord whatever package I have.

Meanwhile I have priced an alternative, with the goal to be able to get Oz TV, and also the Astro network.

Installation of the 2 dishes (each point at different satellites) costs around 35,000 Baht, then have to get a card for Astro, 3,000 Baht, then subscribe to the Astro network costs vary depending on what package is paid for but get quite a few programs for around 1,000 Baht equivalent.

This would cover all and more than I currently get with UBC, so dish purchase and installation is high but then only monthly cost which is not too bad, less than UBC

I am interested in finding out anybody's experience with recieving Astro in Thailand, as I am finding it hard to speak to anybody who has actually installed a dish to receive Astro. The Oz channel is free

Thanks
