"...director of the...mental hospital, said he [alleged killer] showed signs of having mental problems as the man could easily be provoked and become paranoid."

Yeah, lack of sleep for 4 months due to your neighbors' every-night partying, just might push you over the mental brink.

Been there, done that up to the point of wanting to knock everyone off! :o

Lots and lots of blame to go around here, poor guy just SNAP, one would think a doctor or all people would have more resepct for her fellow man. :o:D RIP for all.

Me too. But usually thinking of ways of cutting power to the place, sabotaging the sound system, etc. Never thought of mass murder.

Oops! Sorry we tainted your thoughts! :D

It's a good thing 95% of human beings don't act on 100% of what they think.

I fully approve of this guy make him Mayor of Thailand or something about time the Thais realised they should not be so selfish theyre always making a row without a thought for anyone else same with their parking /driving/barking dogs etc etc obviosuly not every Thai accepts this racket. Now I read the families may seek revenge typical Thai childish behaviour if only their relatives had turned the down their music they were asked many times over a long period apparently.

This murder was due to the people singing karaoke songs late at night for months on end. The dude had to get up at 3am to work. I think its interesting that the version in the UK fails to mention any of this, and only focuses on that John Denver karoake killing spree, when that had nothing to do with the murders at all. The author really knows how to twist the stories to get them to sell in the UK press.

True enough, however, the last time I was living in Phuket was on the edge of a large rubber yard, stupid choice I know, and sure enough every night/morning about 3-4 a.m. we would be woken by the local rubber tappers--what goes around.

I guess he never considerd earplugs--cheaper than a 20,000 baht 9 mm.

The neighbour was a Doctor and is it just me or does it seem a bit odd for a quack to be belting out "country roads take me home" until 3 am most nights while drunk and then pop down to the local hospital for a little bit of surgery.. and how unfortunate would you be if your were stuck with this psycho as your cell mate? lights out and you would be as quite as a church mouse

Be careful in the South. What is usually concluded in a police station in other parts of the country, might end up in the Wat down in the South.

Selfish neighbour meets psycho neighbour. :o Oh dear.

Ear plugs dont stop you feeling the music ie "BASS" simplest , easiset and probably politest solution failed, he had already asked them. Too many people in this world think they can do what they want when they want and <deleted> everyone else its common in the UK now. All respect for other people has gone out of the window, when I was young I never heard anyone swear now its every other word and all out in public.

Wife from oop North Thailand says when she was young too it never happened she's horrified how many Thais behave today and she's only in her early 30's.

Sleep denial is extremely stressful and annoying and if taken to extremes is an effective form of torture. A few drunken <deleted> keeping hundreds awake with their intoxicated caterwauling is an all too common occurrence throughout Thailand. I'm surprised these incidents don't happen more often.

It happens more in society where the locals are uneducated. Shooting a bunch of people including your own brother in law? If he had a brain he would have organised a sing song and made sure his mother in law was there

JD was a good man, made good music, and stood for a lot of good things. He gave graciously to the poor and suffered a tragic death from a simple mistake.

That said, I wish I would have invited this Thai fellow over the other night. The neighbors were really blasting the nieghborhood.

I've been following this story the past week and it's a real typical Thai one isn't it. The caterwauling of someone karaoke with no concern for the neighbors. If anyone should know about the dangers of sleep deprivation, it should be a doctor. He even discussed and finally warned them that the music was driving him crazy and that he would kill them it it didn't stop (such threats are usually not made in vain or jest in LOS). Apparently they built a tall wall to protect themselves from this guy.

I was thinking why the doctor and her friends would try to reach some agreeable compromise with this fellow. Then it clicked that she was a DOCTOR and he was a lowly RUBBER TAPPER (i.e., common uneducated labourer) and it all fit into place. She and her friends wouldn't change their behavior to accommodate the needs and wishes of such a lowly person...especially as she was an educated doctor.

A sad but oh so true Thai story and had such a Thai ending too.

Good comment, agree with you 100 percent :o

It seems to me that most of the posters on this thread are justifying the killing. What a great bunch of folks on Thaivisa forum!!!

I don't think it is so much justifying the killing (seriously) but certainly sympathizing and understanding how constant noise pollution and inconsideration can certainly drive someone to commit such an act. Maybe this is something only someone who has be resident in LOS long-term could really understand.

That's right. Noisy neighbours are a massive pain in the arse here sometimes.

There is obviously no justification for this killing, in the UK and probably most 1st world countries, there are legal procedures to stop continual noise such as this. Probably hear in Thailand there are not.......but please don't blame John Denver.
