Confused - Need Help - Convert Me To "o" Visa Or What ?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone, be gentle I'm a newbie :D

I have just extended (30 days)the first part of my double entry 60 day tourist visa. I have just got married in Thailand :D and want to stay for a long period. I have read numerous threads, some of which were upto 4 years old and some more recent.

The problem is alot of it appears conflicting advice or dated and I need some help as to what to do and how to do it ? I know I have to leave the kingdom when my current 30 day ext. expires. I have another 60 day visa for re- entry. Heres where I need help and guidance:

1 - Do I go to Singapore and get an 'O" visa 1 year multi or get 90 day and extend it later ?

2 - Use the remaining 60 day visa for re-entry and convert that into an 'O' in Bangkok at immigration bureau for 90 days then extend that for 1 year?

3 - Maybe someone has a better suggestion ?

I have funds in the bank to show if needed (UK Bank over 800k) and can show regular weekly deposits into Thai account for atleast 3 months showing family income in excess of 40k per month.

I am a little confused by all the information available and just need some positive up-to-date direction please. :o

You did not provide a vital bit of information - did you marry a Thai? Below and most other advise will be based on the assumption that you did.

1. You can use visa entry and extension for next 3 months. If you want 60 days more you can get that with a short extension of stay without financial requirements on the basis of your new marriage (one time extension).

2. You can at any time extend your stay one year at a time with proof of 40k family income. For overseas income this is normally a letter from your embassy. For domestic income tax payment receipts. This can be with an immigration change of visa status or by obtaining a non immigrant O visa from a Consulate and return.

3. You can obtain multi entry non immigrant O visas from many western countries and some others on the basis of marriage. Singapore would require proof of 400k in a bank account somewhere.

So you really need to decide what you want to do. It would appear all options are open for you.
