Need To Go 0utside Los And Back In Again - Best Options ?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have to leave LOS and re-enter to use my second of 60 day visas.

Can anyone recommend the easiest and quickest way to do this?

I was thinking of driving up to Nong khai, going over the bridge into Laos, turn around and come back again. Is this feasable? Can I get a Laos visa in Nong Khai ? Are there likely to be any hassles doing it this way ?

The other option I considered was flying into Myanmar, get the stamp and fly right back as the return flight is only 30 minutes after touchdown. Has anyone else done this ? Any issues likely ?

Any help suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

30 minutes would not normally allows a turn around as most airlines close boarding before flight time. Nong Khai would work and a visa is available on entry into Laos.

Thanks as always Lopburi, I have read on another thread that you cannot take the car over as it needs a passport too and dont really want or need the hassle of getting one as the thread refers to a shuttle bus very near to the bridge which will cross and return. Does anyone else know about this shuttle or used it ? and does a Thai need a visa ? as my wife wants to go with me.

Thai can obtain a border pass from office before the bridge I believe.

Thai citizens with a proper passport are visa free to Laos, and will just receive a 30 days stamp, they can go right to the immigratioin booth and enter the country, you of course need to go and get your visa on arrival form. If going by car, you can park your car just before Thai immigration, get stamped out, take the bus over the bridge, 15 baht per person, this bus will bring you to the Lao immigration, where your wife just needs to get stamped in, you have to fill out the visa form, that is obtained from those nice people in the office, once that is done, you hand the form, one photo and the money for the visa (depending on nationality), the will close the window, wait a few minutes, window open again, they wave your passport, get it back, fill in the entry-exit card (same for your wife, she will need to do that as well) and proceed to get stamped in.

If you want to bring the car to Laos, I believe you need some paperwork done, there was a thread recently about it, maybe search for it.l

Thanks alot sjaak327 for the help :o . YES you are right, I checked and apparently the car would need its own passport so I will leave it Thai side and take the shuttle bus.
