Getting Hitched In The Uk

Featured Replies

I have recently gotten married in Thailand and I will be visiting the UK in July. I was wondering if it is possible to have another marriage ceremony in the UK, as most of my family were unable to come to Thailand for the wedding? If so, any idea how much all the legal gubbings would cost? :o

You will need to obtain a divorce first as you are legally married in the UK if you are legally married in Thailand.

But I imagine that like most places, the ceremony is separate from the legal part of getting married. Maybe you sign the paper work at the ceremony, but the ceremony itself is not the legal part.

So you should be able to have a wedding again, no need to file any legal papers for the marriage because you are already married.

My parents many years ago went back to the small church in Lakenheath that they were married back in 1960 to renew their vows for their 25th wedding anniversary. It appeared to be just a normal wedding, everything was pretty much the same, just no paperwork.
