This post is somewhat off-topic but related.

My 90 day report was due on 12.04.08 and I mailed it to Suan Plu by EMS on 09.04.08 and got the receipt back today (18.04.08)!!!

This was the fastest reply I ever got, especially taking Songkrahn into consideration.

Usually it took 3-4 weeks to get the papers back.

And, the same as last year at this time of year, they attached a note about my visa - see attachment.

the exact procedure is descibed here: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=90days

i just wonder, why the tm.47 asks if tourist or non-immi, because no tourist is allowed to stay more than 60days +30 days extension anyway. or did i miss some newer informaion? btw: thai laws require that even anyone (friend, landlord) who hosts an alien needs to report every 90 days.

a very comprehensive and rather new order about all kinds of temporary stay in thailand can be found at:

1. Tourist and non immigrant entry is limited to 90 days or less in almost all cases but a tourist entry could be extended for emergency reasons such as medical just as a non immigrant is routinely extended for specific reasons. So entry could have been on a tourist visa and still require 90 day report for some.

2. I do not know of any requirement to report every 90 days for landlords. Indeed, unless a hotel, the rule is seldom actively enforced even for initial reporting.

Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence , or the hotel manager

where the alien , receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom has stayed , must notify the

competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that hours , dwelling place or

hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned. If there is no Immigration Office

located in that area , the local police official for that area must be notified.

In case the house , dwelling place , or hotel where the alien has stayed under provision of Para.1

is located within the Bangkok area , such notification must be reported to the competent official at the

Immigration Division.

Making notification , in reference to the Para 1 and 2 of this Section , must comply with

regulations prescribed by the Director General.

3. The link you provide leads to a copy of Police Order 606/2006 which has been the active law for the last 18 months and we have three versions available from the useful information at top of page. Indeed it is a good reference source for extensions of stay requirements.

I may be wrong, but I thought the original idea was that the form could be completed, sent and then the alien :o attended at the office to complete the process.

Regards

Believe you are thinking about the re-entry permit - indeed that is the procedure currently in place at Suan Phlu. It is not the 90 day address report.

One point of interest.

I live in Bangkok but I got tired of spending a couple of hours and several hundred Bt on the BTS and taxis to go to the Thai Immigration office to submit the 90 day report. Last time I downloaded the correct form, filled it in, and mailed it in. A few days later I got a phone call telling me that I had to go into the office.

It seems that if you live in Bangkok you MUST go to Thai Immigration in person - mailing in the 90 day report is not an option.

Very true. Was told this several years ago; but it appears some have had success in the past. There are three locations that you can use here. The Hqs at Suan Phlu, the one stop service center in Rasa Tower II (near Central Plaza Latphao, or the new immigration office in Novotel at the airport.

I also live in BKK and use EMS for the 90day reporting.

Have also been told (on handwritten notes and in person long time ago) that I, or somebody on my behalf, should submit the report in person.

I continue using EMS (see my post above) and had no problems.

If you use mail they will call you to the office only if:

1) you mailed it (post stamp) past your due reporting date (not sure if the ±7 days grace period works for mail - never tried it, always mail it about a week in advance) or

2) if some of your attached documents are not in order.

You cannot do a 90 day report on line from anywhere.

Has to done in person, by someone on your behalf or by post.

I think that you will find that you CAN file your 90 day report at Pattaya office online, (in fact I know you can) BUT, you have to go to the office the following day to collect the slip that goes into your Passport.
