No Water Shortages This Year !

Yes, once again we are being assured that there will be no water shortages (again) this year.

According to an article in the Pattaya Mail, the Mabprachan reservoir has considerably more water in it now than at the same time back in 2005, and with the onset of the rainy season, there should be enough to meet Chon Buri's needs. If the rainy season doesn't replenish the reservoir sufficiently, there are plans to draw water from other sources.

No water shortages this summer says Irrigation Department (Pattaya Mail)

I find this kind of humourous, as we've already had water cut-offs in our neighbourhood two days in a row ! This is getting to be an annual farce. Someone in authority makes promises and guarantees, which get broken almost as fast as they are given. Why even bother ? Is this some kind of internal joke ?

"OK, Irrigation Department, you drew the short straw this year, so you get to make the promise of no water shortages this time. Make sure you get the press release out before we start cutting off various neighbourhoods." :o

Maybe it's a covert plot to cut down on the amount of water available to splash on all those scantily clad Girly Berry wannabes ? :D

I don't know if there have been any water cut-offs in my area (Nernplubwan) as I have a water storage tank. However, I think not as I have not seen any water trucks in my moobaan filling up the tanks of others who use more water than me :o

As has been plain for years, the water resources on the Eastern Seaboard are severely strained. And most of the time, priority seems to go to the industrial estates of Rayong and Chonburi rather than the tourist industries of Pattaya. Even the 5-star hotel resorts have to resort to buying hundreds of thousands of bahts worth of water during the worst of the dry season so their guests can bathe and flush the toilets!.

If one has their own place, it is imperative to have a water storage tank (or two). Another thing to keep in mind is not to rent or buy in areas that are at the end of the water-system distribution lines (i.e., anything on Buddha Hill or south-east thereof (i.e., Jomtien).

three day cut off already - Pattaya side of Buddha Hill. I'm lucky, I have a tank but the water wagons are going around my area several times a day with the biggest smiles on their faces!

Yeah I live in the same area. I noticed the water was off so didn't water the garden for a couple of days, and was quite sparing with the water we had in the tank, but it did run out, and we couldn't get a bowser for love nor money as they were all out for Songkran. Luckily we were reconnected within a couple of hours of running dry.

Are these shortages Songkran related or just coincidence?
