Has anyone had the full comprehensive medical at Bumrungrad?...

My friend told me ages ago he went there and they spent a full day turning him in to a lab rat, doing every test on him

I'm thinking of going to get it done myself.

Yes. In July 06. Recommend it.

Checked blood, urine, stool, chest x-ray, eyes, cancer screen, ultrasound, ekg, cholesterol, hepatitis, exercise stress test.

Very efficient and first class process (compared to what I'm used to).

All the big hospitals offer comrehensive check-ups (as comprehensive as you want and are willing to pay for) and do a competent job of testing, but where they differ is in how carefully and thoroughly they analyze the results in light of the individual patient's history and any symptoms.

Bumrungrad in my experience fails badly at this...I have gone there several times and accompanied others several times and each time significant findings were missed altogether or interpreted incorrectly due to failure to recall or incorporate sihgnificant medical history which had been provided.

Which makes all that efficient high tech testing rather useless.

Personally I recommend the Wellness Centre at Samitivej and ask for either Dr. Phuchai (male) or Dr. Anchana (female), both are very thorough.

Thank you for the insight.

I've had the comprehensive at Bumrungrad done annually for the last 3 years. I thought it was very thorough, as at the end, they gather all the results up and you go in with a one-on-one interview with a doctor, who analyzes the data. The lab results give the ratings of each test, as within minimum acceptable limits or not. I had a couple of extra tests done, at added expense.

Perhaps other hospitals have similar programs, but I've only used Bumrungrad.

I had my annual check up at Bumrungrad last week and as with previous years I was suitably impressed. I made a point of getting there early and as it turns out I was the first in line - in at 07:30, all done by 09:00 and that was for the exec program but minus the stress test (which I knew I would fail), Baht 10,400. Went back the following day for the results and a review of the findings which proved to be very thorough. At the consultation I outlined my plans to have angioplasty later this year but was subsequently persuaded to undergo an angiogram there and then in the interests of getting more current data and a second opinion. Just as well that I did because the situation has changed and it's now clear that I need the angioplasty sooner rather than later hence it's scheduled for later this month. There's no doubt that I would have stuck with my original plan were it not for the medical check up and for the insistence of the doctor during his review of the findings thus I am very grateful. Incidentally, the angiogram was quoted at 80,000 to 90,000 but the final bill came in at 53,000. The consultation also taught me that I need to exercise less (due to a coronary blockage) and change some aspects of my diet. All in all it was 10,400 baht very well spent as far as I am concerned.

Thanks Chiang Mai for what I hope will inspire the many TV members who are past their prime and not getting regualr check ups.

I would stress though -- particularly for Bumrungrad based on my experiences there but in fact true anyplace -- that the patient carefully review the test results and specifically ask about any abnormal findings (the normal values are usually shown) and don't be too quick to accept a mai ben rai sort of answer. I have no qualms about the quality of their tests, just about the thoroughness with which they are reviewed. this may just be a function of the individual doctor, every single time I have gone or accompanied anyone through their check-up process it's been the same doctor who seems to think his job is to make everyone happy by assuring them they are fine. It's 2 years now since I did this so maybe he is no longer there or others more thorough have joined him. Still, always check carefully and ask about any value that is outside the normal range.
