george Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Nakhon Ratchasima on alert for flooding NAKHORN RATCHAISMA: -- Days of consecutive rain have caused water levels to rise in several districts of Nakhon Ratchasima province. Provincial authorities are now on standby for a possible emergency with several water pumps to drain water out of devastated areas. Water levels at the Lam Thakong dam is now a major concern and authorities are on full alert to report severe cases of flooding. Locals have also been warned of possible landslides especially in Pak Chong, Wang Nam Kiew, Serng Sarng and Karaburi districts. Officials have also set up a device to measure water levels around the clock. -- Bangkok Post 2008-05-18
plachon Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 If Lam Thakong reservoir is already full and it's only May, then I foresee plenty more flooding in Nakon Ratchasima this rainy season. That dam is often half empty right up to near the end of the rainy season and many years never totally fills. Lower Isaan must have had some serious rain of late?!
Scott Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 A friend of mine comes from Pak Chong District, I hope the family is OK up there.
